Hello, I am curious what basic online assistant jobs pay (in rupees) for a worker with his own internet access and moderate English skill. This means he understands English but maybe not well enough to write it perfectly. Duties would involve data entry into Word, Excel, and similar online programs, as well as some research tasks An idea of wages per hour or month for this type of online administrative job would be very helpful. Thanks!
I've gotten quality help from $1.25 to $3.33 an hour using oDesk. I find the Filipino contractors charge a bit more (closer to $3 an hour) but in my experience had better English skills. Good luck! Peace and prosperity, Stephanie

I agree with these rates. A Filipino will ask for 25%-35% more. Cost of living is higher in Philippines than in India. It is very much possible to find Indian workers with good English skills, but then they will ask for a higher salary too. In India, labour is cheap, but not skilled labour. Anyone with good communication skills (English) can easily find a decent offline job and is unlikely to opt for an online job.

If you need very basic help and great English isn't important for the tasks, then definitely try oDesk. Contractors from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India usually charge $1.25 an hour (though I had a couple agree on $1 total.) So, 40 hours a week @ $1.25 an hour is $50, $50 times four weeks a month is $200, etc. oDesk also does screen shots for hourly jobs so you can see whether your virtual assistant is slacking off on Facebook and trying to charge you for work time. It really depends on what you need and how skilled they should be... Good luck, Stephanie
