‘footer links’

    Hi Forum masters.

    I have some knowledge about SEO but I came to know a word which is of new technique of SEO. I want to know about footer links in SEO category. So, is there anybody who can tell me that what footer link is and what is a benefit in SEO?

    They probably don't carry as much weight as other links on the page, because of the link location. But of course this is just speculation. I'm pretty sure Google has suggested the link location is a factor in determining link juice.

    Footer links are links placed on site’s footer. The reason why these links are much in demand because the footer remains common for all pages of the website and this way the link partner effectively gets links form all pages of the link providing website. They are site wide links and very close to what Blogroll links are in context of blogs.
    Though the actual benefits of footer links from Google’s perspective is still debatable and I have heard people say that its just one link for Google but I have researched many sites and have seen Google indexing at least 10-15 links form one site. Google is always very unpredictable but as of now footer links sound like a good bet. These are more effective for content rich sites with many sections and categories because your site gets several links from different categories.

    Aggree with dcristo. Link in footer does not carry too much weight. Link in top part of the page carries more weight than bottom part of the page. That make sense, because you usually put the important thing above.

    Footer links are the links at footer of the webpage. mostly people include links on footer for their own website. its a good thing to have

    But even if they don't carry "much" weight, they do carry "some" weight :)
    Something is far better than NOTHING :)
