i have used facebook only for interaction with friends but till now i havent used facebook for promoting my sites. Part of the reason i dont use because i dont want to discuss my business with friends.

I have used Facebook promoted my website before with unsuccessful. I think if you want a successful campaign at Facebook you need a lot of friends network and being attractive enough.

I recommend you use Facebook. Since we use our own promotional FB page, I can see the change in traffic through Google Analytics.

I use Facebook for promoting my blog and I have about 1500 friends. Usually when I post something like a link to an article I get about 5 clicks. If I had good friends i would probably get more but most of my Facebook friends are not there for that kind of stuff so I tend to have bad luck. It's a good tool but I wouldn't expect great things from it. Use it with an array of other avenues.

For product promotion you must have more than 1000 fan to make it fruitful or else you should just send them to your blog or CPA offers.

Create a fan page and build the membership and trust of the members who follow you.
