Higher-end designer companies start at $250+ for logos. Believe it or not.

it depends on the quality, the idea, and the creativity , it depends on the way how the designer hides the idea in the logo .. take a look at my thread in the signature .. :D

A logo is not that important for a business, i think. what is the logo of google, facebook??? None, just a coloured and well chosen name...that's it. A logo is not an equivalent for massive business income.

It depends on the logo and what kind of designs you want, and also, the price that the designer charges. Good designers may charge more than average designers.

I've got two logos designed here. I think I paid thirty dollars for each and I am very happy with both of them. They aren't going to win any awards for creativity but for a start up business they are perfect. Save your money for other stuff, One thing though if you ask for some sort of fancy icon it's probably better to go somewhere else.
I also paid 40 dollars for a logo at Rentacoder. The provider, I selected, was one of the top companies on Rentacoder. 250+ jobs mostly five star ratings. The logo designs they submitted were so bad I was astonished. If you have a look at a 10 dollar logo contest at digital point and picked the worst designs they would still be better than what I got. Honestly, anyone with 10 minutes instruction in microsoft paint could have done as good a job. I am still amazed at the work they gave me. It was that bad.....

    Cheers Don

Scorpion makes a lot of valid points. There are a lot of positives about using an experienced professional. For, example the font used in one of my logos is hard to read from even a short distance because of the font used. An experienced professional probably wouldn't have used that font

Around 10-40$ depending the requirement. The more you pay the better designs you gonna get from the designer :)

like eating in a restuarant, you can go for street food/kfc/macdonalds meal deal $5 or you can spend $500 waiter service, champagne, 5 courses and chees board at a 5 star establishment,

At the end of the day your belly is full. ;)

I'm shocked with the amount of $5, $10 and $20 logo design prices here!

A logo is part of a company's branding. Professional logo design takes research and planning. It should represent the company, background and mission.

A logo isn't something a company or business should aim to use for a couple of months. It should be something you'll be happy to use for years, something you'll be comfortable with placing on every marketing material you have from business cards, flyers, apparel and so on. Something that is the best representation of your business.

If a logo is costing you $5, how much time do you expect the designer to work on it for you? In my eyes, $5 is the equivalent of 5 minutes on your logo - but I guess this seems to be good enough for some.

Good designers who offer these type of prices need to rethink their pricing structures - even if it's just to build up a portfolio. You might as well just offer your service for free.

I completely agree with you, but we can have to offer those prices lately for our living. That's the price where we find clients more easily (There are few clients who pays more and for them we design even better designs :) ). There are many people who uses prebuild template they download from internet and then do name editing and stuffs and claim that they designed them (Because of those people we have to offer low price). Because of such reasons Logos are around 5-20$ on this forum.
