Can Google penalize my site for having domains redirect to it?????

    Hello all

I have advertisements on Craigslist with a link to my company ... which many users click and come to my website.

Craigslist has gone after me....... and will "Ghost" any advertisement that I post that has my link on it.

It will, however, let me post the advertisement without the link.

It was suggested to me that I put a new link on there..... from a brand new domain, and have that link, link to my website.

And if Craigslist kills that link.... then buy another domain, and keep repeating.

I have never redirected another domain to mine before, and I am scared it will penalize my website -- as I also do S E O. --- all White Hat SEO.

Could Google penalize me, if I have other sites redirect to my website? My website is very important to my business -- and I wouldnt want to do anything to get it penalized.

Should I be careful? Or is it ok to have new domains redirect to my site?

301 redirect is a safest solution for you. Your redirect will not be marked as spam attempt from Google. There are thousands of webmaster including me doing this without any issue happened. However, I disagree on spamming over Craiglist anyway.

Redirect 301 is whitehat SEO , it tells Google that the domain redirects to the target domain. I dont see why this should by Black hat SEO

Well because im posting like a madman on Craigslist

And then the link will say one thing, and go to another.....

So im wondering, if that will in fact hurt my main site that the link is being pointed to...

if a domain redirect to your domain will give your domain trouble, then I can take down any website

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You will have an ad on craigslist with a link to what is a new domain for you. You will then redirect that domain to your main site. And, you want to know if Google would penalize your main site for this tactic if it is repeated often.

If I have understood you correctly, my opinion is that it is not likely, but if done frequently over a long period, I do think it is possible. That would depend on one thing though. That is, whether the intermediate site that you keep replacing is publicly registered to the same owner as the site it is redirected to.

I don't think there is any proof of this, but logic says that if redirecting numerous new sites to one established site should happen to trigger a flag which then programmatically checks domain records and it is found that they are the same owner, your main domain's trust level could suffer.

I think it is really a stretch, maybe a 1% chance, but I think it is possible if done frequently and for a long time (a year or more).
