to add to that, the reason behind the not saluting the flag is based on the principle of not recognizing any authority higher than God's, or giving of one's allegiance to anyone but God

What is different between people shoving religion down others throats or you telling people they shouldn't follow a religion because you don't?

It's not that that makes them dangerous. It's how they take one or two verses of scripture completely out of context and apply it literally.

Here's a tip yo. Not recognizing an authority is not the same as wanting to blow it up. The connection you are trying to establish

Skynt: Often I have a hard time backing it up too, but it's something that we call faith and it never goes away. Something I've had as a child and will continue to have. No matter what happens in life, I know that God is there and I come back to a peace of knowing who I am and why I am.

Words can't describe the faith or feeling that is there.

The difference is these religous people would love to pass laws regulating our entire lives. I'm expressing my own opinion that YOUR religion is wrong but you're free to believe whatever made up crap you want as long as it doesn't encroach on people's lives.

I disagree with that. I'm religious, I'm not all about the laws. Christians have rules, yes, but they don't completely govern our lives. That's why God gave us free will. We choose to do what we do, it's not forced upon us. We just choose to do things differently than everyone else.

If we had been living all along like those "laws" told us, we wouldn't know any differently and they wouldn't be considered laws. They would be considered "the way of life."

Well put fsmedia. Unfortunately I don't think everyone is quite as liberated as you. Many people do consider religion a way of life and blindly follow what the rest of us consider to be ridiculous "laws".

Those are the people that give religion a bad name and (excuse the pun) scare the hell out of those of us who don't have religious belief.

If only more religious people were like you...

This is very true. It's people choices what they do with free will which can make things very nasty indeed.

Thank you Hawk. We all struggle, Christian or other or not, everyone sins. I'm in no way trying to say I'm perfect or above anyone else, but it's just a different way of life.

A lot of Baptist sects prohibit dancing also, which leads to this old joke:

    Q. Why can Baptists only have sex in the missionary position?
    A. Because if they had sex standing up, it could lead to dancing.

    Ba dum bump! :D
