Hi all Just two questions but im really hoping I can get some cool answers! 1) I have a logo that needs blowing up - I am using macromedia fireworks 8 but im losing a lot of clarity when making the picture bigger. Is there anyway to do this without the need to draw the logo out again from scratch? 2) Also I need to put this same image into a PDF - I managed to do this using a virtual PDF printer but when im opening up the pdf the image looks like its been broken up into loads of sections. the image is for a sign which is 30 inches by 24 inches! Any help will be appreciated. cheers
1) I don't think there is anything you can do that will be satisfying. I'm guessing the artwork is not vector-based, that's why it's not scaling properly. You can try to fool around with the anti-aliasing options or the default filters in Fireworks. These may help. I know in Photoshop, there is a filter that can be purchased that supposedly improves scalability significantly. I haven't tried it and maybe there is an equivalent in Fireworks. I'll try to get the name for you. 2) Maybe I'm missing something, but you can't simply try something like "TOOLS / ADVANCED COMMENTING / ATTACH / PASTE CLIPBOARD IMAGE"? Sorry, that's all I have!
One word.. "vector". For that size you really should redraw the logo in a suitable graphics package such as Illustrator or CorelDraw.
How many in % do you need it bigger? Insert into Word --> convert with PDF995 and your problem will be solved Didier
Open Office has a nice export as PDF option. You can specify where you want to use image compression on it.
For logos I would always redesign them, just because you can and because upsizing will not yield good results for logos. If you ever have to upsize a photograph (no way you can take the same one again) it depends on your budget. -You can get a free photoshop action here: http://www.outbackphoto.com/workflow/wf_60/essay.html -You can buy Fred Mirandas Staircase Interpolation Action ($25 or so) -You can buy Genuine Fractals (expensive) which decomposes your image into Fractals which can be re-calculated for higher resolution All solutions have some sort of drawback. Open up Adobe Acrobat (not the Reader but the full version). Drag your image from the Explorer into Acrobat.
Set the print size to be larger than this or set the print output to shrink to fit the 8x11 standard size.
Thanks guys - all ur advise really helped I initially did want to redesign it & make it bigger but I lost the original png and original pictures that I used to create it so that was a no go area. Managed to blow it up & do the Pdf so fingers crossed it will look good - otherwise its back to the drawing board!!
