    If you have not much skills in (X)HTML/CSS you use those programs...

    I do not use them, I am using Notepad++ text editor ONLY.

    Visual Studio is 10 times the editor anything else out there is and it's free. Not only that but you don't have to pay more money every time there is an upgrade.

    Do yourself a favor and take the money you were going to spend on Dreamweaver and use it to buy an academic version of Photoshop.

    I remember when I first started using DW. It was a pretty steep learning curve and I was also just beginning to learn HTML and CSS was a relatively new idea. Deciding to learn something new; VS, was not something I wanted to do. I really didn't want to invest the time to learn a new software, especially something like VS. But then I found asp.net and all the video tutorials and it was a breeze. It only took two or three of the video tutorials from that site and I was off and rolling. It's really not that hard to pick up if you can actually watch someone doing it. Sense I work mainly in code view it really was easy to pick up.

    I will say that VS is built from the ground up to support ASP with code support for C# and VB.net and also intended to integrate with MS SQL it is a lot more powerful than I have ever had occasion to test it's limits. That being said if you are so inclined the tutorials on asp.net cover every aspect of database integration along with writing all your server side scripting in C# or VB.net. You could easily spend a year just working through the video tutorials on that site. And it's all free too.

    Who said that? Is there any proof?

    It depends on "how" you code, your knowledge about (X)HTML/CSS and if you ever tried to code a site by hand (with a simple text-editor).

    If you are able to code by hand, why you want to step back to DW?

    Notepad++ FTW

    I can code by hand and I still prefer Visual Studio. It's faster. It catches mistakes on the fly. And since I use two monitors and my website is hosted on the machine sitting here beside me I can keep the page open in a browser on one monitor and work on the live file in the other monitor refresh the browser and see the changes.

    Also the color coding makes reading the file a lot easier. If I miss-type something, for instance a class name the editor flags the name telling me that there is no such class defined anywhere in the project. So I know instantly that something is amiss. I don't have to run it and then start trying to chase down the error.

    Bottom line, it's a whole lot faster and easier. Yeah I can code by hand but why would I want to do that?

    That's just silly.

    Yeah dude, that is like hand coding, not using a WYSIWYG editor where you can "add images" or stuff like that ;)

    I think I should take a look at VS then, the error correction seems to be pretty cool :)

    Well think of it like this: If you had to manage a site like Microsoft.com or Technet, odds are you wouldn't want to do it in notepad. There's just way tooo much content there to manage with something like notepad. VS was designed for the professional developer. You can work with anything from simple HTML to C, C+, C++ or C# or VB.net and more. In fact it pretty much goes without saying that microsoft.com and technet were built and managed in VS. And the most insane thing of all is that it's totally free and the upgrades are almost every year, two at the most.

    There are parts of the application where you need to be in "Design" view to use some things but they are for doing things like accessing dataReaders or bindings and such. It's just where they placed the controls for those things.
