Unfortunately Grizz has taken his blog down (due to various attacks etc) but the concept is a simple one - the money is made by adsense - when faced with an ugly blog users will, subconsciously or consciously, look for a way out. Helpful looking adverts will often be that way - meanign teh CPC is raised and so is the money you make.

I don't want to start a debate on your auction but people who want to get the hell out of a crappy site and click anywhere will often click out again a second later punching your ctr down on adsense as opposed to say a person who likes dolphins and seeing an ad for a stuffed animal in a dolphin site and clicks on it and checks it out.

 

Lacey - have you tested this? Try a site like it and you might find what the CTR is very instructional vs what you usually manage. People who want off and see links to something that they were obviously looking for will click them more than if they were on a pretty page.

I run 'pretty' sites full of content as well as niche ones, and the CTR on these sites FAR outweighs that seen on a pretty site
