Actually you don't even need that tag in the head if you name it: favicon.ico (In icon format), you can get a photoshop icon plugin for free just checkout google!

If you want to change the logo of your site, a simple solutions is to create another logo with the same size and change it.
Are you taking about Favicon ? If yes then its too easy to add this, just google for it and you will know this in no time.
