I have been thinking about an idea which I haven't seen yet. This is an application idea like youtube, twitter or some other web 2.0 website so this is something which can be used by people.

Do you have any tips on how to start this without budget. I have been looking for people who can help me out but if you look for partners they are mostly hit and run. They aren't dedicated most of the time.

    Any suggestions?

Save some funds to get the project developed. Do your due diligence to find someone or company who can actually develop the project for you and make any necessary fixes or upgrades as your project grows.

Thanks for the tips! What kind of funds should I think of? $500 or $2000? It will be an aplication similar to youtube. Not similar but in that coding range.

I think $2000 would be the minimum you'd need to save up.

If you are out of budget it's impossible to build site what you willing to do. If you are expert enough to write script, provide service to sell script to people first. You can start this for free at fiverr.com, gigbucks.com & at here this DP forum also. Then when you have sufficient budget start your own business.

    Hope this should help you.

I'm just surprised how people keep thinking they can make money online for free. Everything costs money.

Well it is possible. Making money online requires investment but it doesn't have to be cash - you can invest time and work as well. When I first started I did it with Bum Marketing and doing jobs for people, web design (dreamweaver isn't hard to find on torrent, in my defense I bought a copy when i could afford it), graphic design, link building, SEO etc.

In regards to the OP's question - if you're talking about launching a serious social media platform that is on par with Youtube then forget about $2k, try $200k just to launch it, add another few zeros to get the kind of leverage they have. Some sites do get massive from nothing - but it really is luck. For every facebook or youtube there are thousands of brilliant, original concept sites that have come and gone because they just didn't catch a lucky break.

If you want to create something similar to what's already out there it has to have a unique selling point otherwise there will be no competition unless you have unlimited funds for marketing and development. Even then there's no guarantee it'll be the next big thing.

With NO funds your going to need A LOT of free time, talent and abilities in designing and developing such a website yourself - and preferably, a magic wand.

With very little funds, your going to need to buy reliable hosting and a domain, a script which has been sold to thousands of other internet users with an idea of a watered down version of YouTube, Twitter or the likes and 24 hours a day (for the next 20 years) of posting in forums, submitting links in directories and networking on sites which you are trying to out-do to try and steal their users.

With a bit of funding (let's say £2,000) you're going to need a best friend who is a senior web designer/developer (and absolutely loves you), to design and develop the site for you at a ridiculously low price. You can then spend a few hundred pounds on advertising on Google Adwords as well as stealing other social network users and the likes as mentioned above.

With a lot of funding (let's say £200,000+) you can get both a professional web design agency and marketing company to help you out, get your brand known to the masses and give you some ongoing assistance.

With unlimited funding (let's say you make £10,000 per minute at your current job and have a couple of year's savings in the bank) you can just buy YouTube and Twitter and brag about it to your friends. Bob's your uncle.

Hope the above has given you some realistic options. It always helps to think realistically.
