    Hi all...

I ran a search in google (and MCaffe 'site advisor') for "file organizer" and I got planny of results with X Icon beside which means that these site are not safe.

In the FIRST page I see : 80% are "Bad sites" .
Just 20% are safe according to the site advisor.

How come google is not developing a technology to keep his surfers safe.

This is not the google I like. Strange, isn't it ?

    Guy.

If they start changing search engine positions based on that stuff, it will clash with their algorithm.

I think it should be everyones personal responsibility to become knowledgable with protecting your information and being able to spot out a potential harmful website.

I would rather learn how to do it myself than have someone else hand feed me like that.

How does McAfee define "safe" vs. "unsafe"?

My guess is that most of those "red X" or "unsafe" sites really mean "unknown" or "undetermined". I haven't looked closely at McAfee's site advisor but my guess is it works something like ICRA and SafeSurf ratings - the webmaster needs to add something to a web page to allow it to be classified. Assuming this is true, like other schemes that preceded it, I would guess this is doomed to fail for the same reasons - most webmasters can't be bothered to edit hundreds or thousands of pages just to let McAfee rake in a few more bucks from consumers.

I would keep my Anti-V and Anti-Spyware uptodate and get a good firewall software :)

No app can be sure you've clicking on a safe or unsafe link...

    Happy Surfing!

Well after all, if they stop giving relevant results... it will be called as a directory and not a search engine.
