doubt on dead links

    hi,

    .i am working as a seo specialist ..and i want to knw about the dead links..
    my website is redisigned now..and some links are removed from the old website..but i promoted that links already through blog commenting and directories..my wensite is launched 2003..2009 last i redesigned new one..

    today morning i was checking my webmaster tool i found that crwal errors..
    some blogs contains my previous links..but it does not go to my site(page not found)..because now my site doesn't have that page..
    what can i do next step?..help me please..
    is their any options for redirection.. i did one thing that..i send a mail to that site and blogs for removing my links..but it doesn't work..please suggest a good method..

    re-generate the sitemap and send it again to google webmaster tools. that will solve all crawler errors.

    Update the XML sitemap again & submit it in Webmaster tool. It will take some time to get deleted old backlinks from the database & update the new ones

    Use 301/302 redirections to point to your enw page(s) so that visitors don't get the error 404 page.

    Good option.

    Also you can design and upload a custom 404 error page with links of your website. So in case a visitor reaches to an unavailable page, he/she can still continue to browse your site.

    its useful to fix anything broke on your site. However I have been ranking fine for years and I have many dead links/pages on my site according to GWT
