Guys I'm promoting affiliate products using google adword. Most of CJ advertisers do not allow to use their domain names as display URL in adwords so I have to use my own domain. Basically, when someone clicks on ads they get tracked from in my domain and soon gets re-directed to merchants site. Google always disapproves my ads because of inaccurate display URL. I am assuming they want to me show merchant's URL as display URL (which I cant do according to T&C). How can I come over this problem? Please advice
You answered yourself. CJ doesn't allow you A so you do B. Google doesn't allow you to do B and require you to do A. Solution? There is none.
So the only way to promote affiliate products is to have them in your website and then send traffic to merchant's website? That means people clicking on your awords ads must see your domain webpage?
The way you want to do it, why do you even need a web page? The point of you having a web page is to get the traffic to your site first and then based on your content etc. Your visitors would go to your advertises sites. Looks to me what google is doing is correct. May be I am missing your point? Thanks
As T0PS said, there is no solution. Most merchants I have used will not allow you to use their url in the advert (why would they?). You could try some dodgy cloaking and redirecting but I'm sure google would spot what you were doing somehow.
stock_post according to adwords editorial policy your display url must be the one what people are going to see. In my case the display url is my own domain where I track clicks. However, I can put merchants domain name there (but this violates merchant's T&C). But, I dont have any content in my domain, rather there is a script which tracks clicks and redirect to merchant's webpage (which seems violating googles editorial policy). I dont know what is the solution for not getting my ads disapproved.
Very True, When Some tells that do not allow his name in Display URL he is telling in another words to do not sending direct traffic to his website from PPC programs. There are scripting methods to use different display URL and destination URL in AdWords using API and your ads don't get disapproved but if they get you doing that you probably you'll be in trouble.
Hi and welcome Ichigo27. I have an amazing answer to that... Ask the advertiser or read their Terms & Conditions! Magic, isn't it?
I was having problem with different display URL and destination URL causing my ads to be disapproved, so I contacted Google support. Here is what they responded this morning: Thank you for your email regarding the disapproval of your ads for 'Inaccurate Display URL.' I apologize for your frustration but will offer further clarification of our policy on Display URLs. Google's affiliate advertising policy states that your Display URL and Destination URL domains must agree. We monitor and do not allow: - Ads with Display URLs that redirect to a different Destination URL. - Ads with Display URLs that lead to a page showing the same content as that of the merchant site, by means of a frame, mirroring, or other techniques. For example, if the URL of your landing page is www.Google.com, your Display URL must also be www.Google.com. The following would not be acceptable Display URLs for an ad for www.Google.com. www.Google.co.uk - this URL leads to a different site. www.Gogle.com - this URL simply redirects to www.Google.com. www.Gooogle.com - this URL leads to a page showing content identical to www.Google.com. Google may not show your ad for a search query if another affiliate or the parent company also has ads using the same or a similar domain in the Display URL. Your ad can be displayed when it outperforms other affiliate and parent company ads listed under the same URL. Ad placement is based on the ad's Ad Rank, which is determined by various performance factors including maximum CPC (cost-per-click) and Quality Score. For tips on improving your ad's performance, please visit https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/static.py?page=tips.html&hl=en_US. Google enforces these policies because search results pages with multiple ads leading to the same site provide less relevant information and a lower quality experience for our users. Over time, multiple ads leading to the same source also reduce advertiser performance and lower their return on investment. Thank you for your cooperation.
