Hello, I am looking for some public directory of USA compies. I need some official government tool, if exist. I need it from easy reason. I been contacted from some US Company with very interesting offer, but I need verify if this company really exist or it is only fraud. Is some public US government tool? I cannot google it. Thanks.
If it is supposed to a large company they don't exist, not even a mention, on the internet, I would consider it fraud. There is no official directory of US business that would be complete as there is no such thing a national requirement to register a business. If you have their phone number, and it doesn't come up, then I wouldn't waste any more time on it. If you have their local address, you could try and see if they have filed a fictitious name statement with the county they are located in - and that would likely involve calling.
mjewel, Thank you for your opinion. They looks good. I have their address in US, they have a website with phone number, and fax number, I have their EIN tax id. I am just cautious, because I was scammed 2 months ago by Chinese guy, who poses as employee of US company (but in this case, their site not works, and they had no tax id, and phone / fax numbers). I have signed agreement, it is a big business for $XXk USD, so I can use lawyer when it will be necessary.
http://www.rba.co.uk/sources/registers.htm This is a reasonable resource in terms of official registries for different jurisdictions around the world. It can be very frustrating when trying to do a due diligence on an entity where, as in the US, company incorporation is a State responsibility and the registers aren't in very satisfactory state. Where you aren't dealing with an SEC listed company it can be difficult and you may have to pay for information which even then there is no guarantee of getting. A friend of mine told me today there are services selling fake corporation and business numbers over the internet which is a bit of a concern. You can always search EINs through www.feinsearch.com/
...Disclaimer: posted by "just another confused attorney (Barrister and Solicitor)". mjewel needs to change his bio quote to make reference to "confused Lawyers" to be more culturally inclusive and sensitive to other jurisdictions, including but not limited to America's "great friend and ally", Oz. He might be more endearing if he wasn't so undiplomatic and uncouth, but that wouldn't be an American quality would it. I am married to an ex-Microsoft tester who grew up in Seattle.
I thought the Paul Hogan of IP Law was leaving DP for good? I guess you can just add that to your growing list of things you have posted that were false.
Care to catalogue those false things? BTW you never did get around to telling me of your multijurisdictional victories in IP cases so we could do a quick comparison. Maybe you have a selective memory.
Perhaps if you show me the post where I claimed "multi jurisdictional victories" I will respond to your nonsense. Remember, I'm not like your usual clients - the ones who hop into your office, and I will call you out on any BS you post. Havn't got time for a detailed response now, but if you want to alienate Oz Lawyers I'm quite happy to share that not only with other colleagues but also all of my students who will happily frequent another forum where lawyers and law students meet with your approval.
All I asked was that you list your victories. I assumed when you said you were involved in many IP cases that they were multi-jurisdictional. Clients like results. That's all. Perhaps we could compare records since you said I should remove the word 'professional' from my website (as I am only a Lecturer, with a Masters in IP law, and have been practising since the nineties probably before you were born). I guess I should replace the logo with "underqualified" which compares with your bio "I am obviously overqualified" in your assessment of yourself as a non-lawyer. So lets have your victories and losses in any US jurisdiction then and we'll compare.
BTW you did stuff up a lot of links in our website for which I paid you $30 to install WPMU. Hope you are more successful as a bush lawyer than a wordpress assistant
I see, so you were just making up stuff or outright lying - just like your bogus DMCA claim. Now you are continuing to lie about some fantasy job you claim I did for you (I have never offered, nor performed, any services for anyone), which leaves me to believe you have some serious mental issues or dementia (could this have something to do with you no longer being certified to practice law?). In any event, you are nothing more than a waste of my time. G'day, mate.
Pretty simple mjewel. You said you were "overqualified" to give legal assistance and that "lawyers are confused" in your bio, a statement that is gaining wider spread circulation than you would know. However the question is simple, and one you have dodged artfully for a long time. Tell me how many IP cases you have won as you claim to have been involved in many. I can't hear you...
