Not just bogart but all of the above have run out of time (again) and by default have no rational thoughts on the economy or its immediate prospects to offer than just pandering for (more) time. - Groping for trite cliché's in lew of your failed prospects to date only adds to your foolishness each passing day.

.....even if it isn't ... backed up by real finances," Hatch said. "We've got to do it. So let's do it. But that ought to be it."

Looks like a compromise is evolving on the Tax front that just may be beneficial to the Country for a change and to the continuing recovery as well.

Of course, extending tax rates for the higher bracket doesn't in the least strike Hatch as being unfunded but is willing to do so anyway even if it means extending unemployment compensation that also is unfunded - not exactly the type of beginning to 2011 people for a sound economy are looking for.

The irony here. Soros got rich as a Nazi party member bleeding Jews dry of their worldly possessions and eventually their lives. Today people applaud him as if he is some benevolent saint sent here to destroy the right.

By default, as usual Breeze has no rational thoughts on the economy or its immediate prospects, other than just pandering. - Breeze is still groping for trite cliches in lieu of Obama's failed economy. His failed statements to date only adds to his foolishness with each passing day.

Here comes strike #1 for the House Republicans:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...ax-reduction-deal-taking-shape-bush-tax-cuts/

Apparently, the framework of the deal works out as follows:

    Obama gets:
    • 13 more months of unemployment benefits
    • avoids making Bush tax cuts permanent

    Boehner gets:
    • Replacement of the "Making Jobs Work" Obama stimulus item($800 value per family) with a 2% employee side only payroll tax cut for one year(max $2000 value per family, nominal value @ $1100/family)
    • Compromised re-instatement of the Estate tax @35% for estates over 5 million for one year, after which it goes back to 55%?
    • 2 more years of Bush level taxes for income levels over $250,000

Maybe I'm missing something here, but this looks like a compromise for bigger government with almost nothing to stimulate the economy. Replacing one "stimulus" program for another seems like placing bandages on a severed limb. Extending unemployment benefits for another year seems like it will delay the recovery another year. Failure to make the tax cuts permanent leaves us fighting about this again in two years and prolongs the uncertainty. The only bright point I see is a 35% estate tax which seems an easy compromise for both sides(55% is every bit as obscene as 0%).

Can someone please explain to me why I should be happy about this compromise?

You should be happy because enough of the country is fed up with more of this political doublespeak (compromise). One of two things will happen before long; the country will go deeper into depression or the fed up citizens will take back control of their country. In Iceland, they came out of their crisis fairly well. They let the banks fail.

The compromise does not appear to reduce deficit spending in the least and walks all over the Obama Administration - and says very little to support the Republican election victories promises to cut deficit spending. Bad all the way around.

To much to hope for, the house sticking to their principles for reducing the deficit and voting down the "Compromise".

Well you can't very well pay people not to work for another 2 years and expect to generate tax revenue and or job growth.

You're learning breeze.. Democrats are dumb.

As is the Republican plan increases the deficit by ~ 950 Billion, they must be thinking another Iraqi War for the American people to pay for while the Chamber goes dancing.

All hail Nancy Pelosi, the Iron will of America.

Mumbles something about the party of "No". Hey, I'm on board! Vote that dog down. Let the tax cuts expire until the new congress is sworn in next year, and we can make em permanent WITHOUT extending unemployment benefits. I'm with you Breeze, All hail Nancy Pelosi!

    Really? How so?

Every year the Bush Tax Cuts have been in place (since 2001), revenue to the Federal government has INCREASED, not decreased.

All for your idea for next year, O...nation - of course after the Republicans first redefine Earmarks, and let the working Americans eat cake, they deserve less while you are massaging your Iraqi hero's of freedom.

Care to elaborate on how you came up with that $950 billion dollar figure from cutting taxes?

NPR? You're getting this from something you heard on National Public Radio?

You really are a koolaid drinker.

    Ugh..

As an example, for the period of 2004 through 2007, federal tax revenues INCREASED by $785 billion.

That is the largest four year increase in tax revenues in American history.

My source? The US Treasury Department. Individual and corporate income tax receipts rose over 40 percent in the three years following the Bush tax cuts.
In fact, the wealthiest Americans paid an even higher percentage of the total tax burden than they had at any other time in the previous 40 years.

Deny reality all you wan't. Make up bull shit all you want. Flat out lie, I don't care. But PLEASE stop listening to NPR and posting their drivel over here. Try thinking for yourself for a change.

You want to know the biggest difference between Republican and Democrat breeze? Republicans like to think for themselves. Democrats like to repeat what they heard on NPR. Try using your brain for a change and you might actually squeeze out a thought or two and contribute something to this conversation that we've never heard or thought about before.

    Really?

Would you mind if I countered that with something I heard on Fox News?

Look like all Democrats, Obama's service is not to the people, but to big business. That's because Democrats are mostly lawyers.

Not bad, the Republicans are not yet settled in with their 2010 results and are already adding ~ 900 billion to the national debt in just two years. At least in their version they are selling out using the unemployed in America rather than their beloved Iraqi's, I guess that is the new result they now can live with.....and their responsibility for compromising the economy into a double dip recession.

NPR... I find it appalling that a government propaganda outlet is tolerated in a supposedly "free" nation like the United States.

Boris Yeltsin shut down Pravda in 1991. The U.S. is more than a little slow at following suit.

What I find more annoying is that instead of citing a source for his BS, he goes on repeating what he heard on NPR. That's apparently his "source".

Hey, hard to argue with stupidity.
