Tripology is a company that offers....travel. It also has an affiliate program. It was on Commission Junction for years. Then it went belly up. Then it surfaced again as a subsidiary of Rand McNally. After a time it started offering an affiliate sales program again. The affiliate software looks to be in house and not tied to any company like CJ. My experience while they were at CJ was poor. I sent a LOT of clicks to Tripology with very few conversions. However, I had nothing better to put on my travel sites and went to a LOT of work to send all the traffic to Tripology. So, I moved onto other things. They made a few bucks every week. Time moves on and I when I got a mail that they were accepting affiliates again, I pounced on the chance to update my sites. But I put them on only a couple for a test for a start. Going whole hog called for very time consuming massive rewrites. I reasoned that becoming a part of the well known and well thought of Rand McNally company would straighten them out. Since October I have sent them approximately 185 clicks. There was one conversion with $0 dollars payout. What the heck did that mean? The means for affiliates to contact Tripology is with their contact form. They also have a phone number, which I have not used. I deal in online matters so I need to know that my affiliate manager knows how to use email. I have used their contact form 3 times. I have contacted Rand McNally once. I first wrote to them well before Thanksgiving. I have not heard a single word from them on my emails or anything else since I signed up with them. And yes, I opened my spam box and checked it twice. It's like they went on a vacation. There does not seem to be anyone there although their website cordially invites mail from their affiliates. More, I have NO confidence in their tracking system. It logs hits VERY well... But there is no accountability about conversions other than trust which is easy to achieve and easier to lose. Frankly I don't trust them now. They have had plenty of time to respond and I have been as polite as possible, even allowing for communication problems. Warning: Do not do business with Tripology or any company who does not answer your inquiries. Don't be dumb and bull headed...like me. I have reluctantly removed their ads from my sites.
Dear Sir: I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with our affiliate program. I'd be happy to discuss this with you to see what exactly went wrong. I wil say Tripology, now a Rand McNally service, has only recently re-opened it's affiliate program. It is however, CPA based, where we share a very significant portion of the revenue. We have about a 12-14% conversion rate. Something is either wrong with your tracking code or you're simply sending us the wrong type of traffic. For example, if you're advertising "cheap travel" you'll get plenty of traffic but not a single travel specialist will buy that lead. On the other hand, "Honeymoons" the like do very well. Either way, we can address this on the phone. Send me a note at "contact -at- tripology dot com". Thanks, JT Peters
Update.... Just sent my second mail to Tripology per the instructions above. First one sent on 12/9. Today is 12/14. The phone hasn't rang and no return email... (Just in case you're wondering, my emails were perfectly polite.) I'm going to give it this week and then I'll have one additional comment here on this topic.
Last Update: It has been more than the promised week. I did speak with someone from Tripology. Not the CEO. He was busy. Since that time I have pulled most of their advertising, which was considerable. I must have missed one or two properties because the clicks are still slowly coming in. Thirty or so this month. Nary a sale. Nada. Not one peso in 4 or 5 months. Personally I think they have about the swellest travel model around and they are hooked up with a well known company too. It's so good that it made me greedy. The hired help is nice. So, I don't know what their malfunction is. Now, most folks will probably put up a link or two, so it wouldn't make a lot of difference. I, on the other hand had a massive amount of links. I hope they find their difficulty. All the best.
