We use Wordpress for our blog site and I'm not sure we are using the SEO settings properly. When I enter a new post, I enter tags, but never fill out the "All in one SEO" areas, which ask for topic, description and key words. My web person said it is not necessary because the search engines already pick everything up. Is this correct? Help!
I disagree, you should fill all sections in, keywords is the least significant part, Google for instance doesnt even read meta keywords anymore. The title part is the most important, you should think about that and make sure your keywords are in there, a good format is: Keywords 1 | keywords 2 | keywords 3 | Your Website name That is the custom page title and can have a big impact on seo. The description part is what people will see in the search results, that needs to sell the page so that users actually click on your site in the results. Your key phrases need to be in it also because Google will bold them in the search results.
i have a blog (from blog.com), i think more than 10 days after my first article, and i didn't find the article in google~~ is that normal???
this plusin also new for me , just installed for several days, although the site has been build for some time, will turn back to learn more, thx for ur topic
if search engine can't crawl those content its not possible for them to make your site visible in the serp.
This is absolutely correct! Just a side note I have found keeping it shorter and to the point has helped me. 150 rather than the 160 characters it calls for. Also use all your keywords in description and keyword 1 at the beginning of description.
Yap, it should automatically fill out.. also alternatively you can check it in the 'source' after you visit the page
