Top ranking in alexa?

I know that alexa track visitors using there toolbar. However, real number of visitors are larger than the number displaying in there site. If I use alexa widgets, Can I increase my alexa rank?

 

having the alexa toolbar installed will increase your rank by some very minor percentage, yes.

but alexa rank really doesn't matter and isn't accurate until you get pretty high up (top 15,000, maybe top 10,000) and at that point it won't make much of any difference at all.

 

theres no value having a high ranking if you dont make a lot of money out of it

 

There might be when you want to sell the site.

for the most part, no person knowledgable in internet marketing / etc is going to ever buy a site just based on its alexa rating.

even if you're in the top 50 in the world, your revenue & exact traffic details will be a much better indicator of the price your site will go for.

 

actually ur link value has a good boost if u have a high alexa and sell on adbrite

 

increase ur alexa ranking by encouraging your users to download the alexa toolbar

 

not all the time though. Some websites may have products that they can promote very fast using your top 50 site so they'll be willing to pay a good price for it. I believe hotmail is an excellent example. When it was bought a while back for, was it $600 million?, it was just a free email service without any significant income.

Alexa Ranking is useful when it comes to selling links with Text Link Ads (TLA)

 

another thing look at meebo.com they get a mil+ hit's a day and don't get a big rating everything can be fooled even pagerank

 

I don't think Alexa Ranking is very important, because not all people are using alexa toolbar,

 

I'm incredibly skeptical that any software out there can get you in the top 100 in alexa, honestly.

can alexa be manipulated? definitely. but it gets harder and harder to manipulate the higher you get. it isn't a linear game. getting to 10,000 from 15,000 is expotentially more difficult than getting from 5,000 from 10,000.

all that being said, I still like to use alexa to gauge traffic on sites that really have no motivation to be manipulating rankings. it's nothing definitive, but a ballpark is certainly nice to have. even if it does have to be taken with a grain of salt.

I do not agree with you. It is very important to me because I am looking to sell text links. Alexa stat shows a very low three months average, however one-week rank is very high. I want to show most resent stats to my adverts.
