Does anyone cover news stories with articles? I'm starting my own news section for the advertising industry and want to know what to expect, get tips, advice, etc. I was going to use vbulletin, but it's too buggy, it's CMS isn't google friendly and lacks a news sitemap feature.
Ahhh .... here are some names that pretty much steal all your thunder : CNN . BBC , CNET , IGN and donzens of other B.I.G. big players that are next to impossible to take down .
My site is purely digital advertising, which has no competition. There are only 2 general advertising news sites (Advertising Age and AdWeek) plus some other general marketing sites, but I come up second on SERPs and soon first. They also don't cover pure digital advertising like I do, over 50% of their digital advertising sections have off topic articles.
well many seo sites do have blog talking about current news in the industry. maybe they are writing off topic articles for a reason? personally, google trends work pretty well if you need to find topics that would give you a one time boost in traffic
I do not know about what you are looking for. I use VB myself for my forum, I would never use anything else, however, I do not care to much for their CMS, so I do not use it, but I do use the VB blog...There are bugs in everything in life, if you are afraid of bugs, then just shutdown your computer, and stop what you are doing in life... because nothing is perfect, and to prove otherwise there are 1000's of VB users that seem to live just fine with their bugs until they can be fixed, then they live with the bugs they fixed that caused bugs on the ones they fixed...
My Mac Pro doesn't have any bugs that I see.... vbull has a lot I can see. Big difference. It lacks a lot of CMS features, so I'm going else where. Just because they want to use a lackluster program doesn't mean I have to. BTW, there are more sites using other scripts than there are those using vbulletin. ;-)
