English has taken words from almost every language of the world. I guess lots of people here are from Europe, and other continents. So, let us share the words used in English, that are originally from your mother tongue.

    My Mother tongue : Hindi
Hindi words used in English : Guru (master), Avataar (incarnation), Dharma (meaning religion, used in context with 'doing the right deed')... and there are many more

Do share yours as well !

    Cheers !

    Some corrections :
    - Guru is still an alien word to English , rarely used
    - Avatar mean representation , alter ego not incarnation in the English language
    - and Dharma isn't used in English , in fact the latest Longman doesn't contain it

Guru : Title of a popular (kinda !) English (British) movie released a few years ago.
Avatar : Remember a movie made millions last year ? In Hindi, we pronounce it with an extra 'a' (avata'a'r) and it means incarnation, you should trust me on that :D
Dharma : Dharma and Greg - something like that; a popular TV serial I suppose ...?

I believe that every human can be educated if it has a valid neural network . Unfortunately a lot of people don't .

I suppose that by telling him that the term avatar came into the western world almost two centuries ago would give him a heart attack .
