    It is easy to find the location (city, state, country) of comeone's ISP, who assigned the IP. But further information (like home address) will hold by ISP company. Unless work for gov., you are not likely to dig out those info. well, hackers are another case

    you can detect country , city and isp ( internet service provider) you can't detect address and other info .

    you should contact their isp and ask them about address .

    There are IP addresses registered directly to a persons name, so you can get the name from the IP Address.

    Nice thread thanks for sharing it. But most of the people used other IPs as well specially in a big companies so it is quite difficult to trace the right person.

    There is a blog I sometimes read and the author claims they have a friend in the Government that provides her with names and addresses of people who leave posts on her blog. I would assume this would be illegal, and if the person ever got caught would risk loosing their job and jail time, just to provide their friend with who wrote something bad about them.

    It is impossible to find the exact location of a person using his IP address. Using the IP we will be able to find only the region. This case is also not possible when they are using proxy.

    It is not possible to find someones address by knowing his IP - at the best you'll get to the ISP, which will obviously never disclose such information.

    There are IP address registered to the person who use them. It was a trend when officials wanted to keep track of who is doing what on the internet, to prevent fraud. But it was very hard to be implemented worldwide. I can assure you that there are IP address registered directly to a person, a small company, a individual business.
