Google already has the biggest slice of the SE market

Bing and Yahoo don't seem able to compete with Google

all other small SE have failed or are vanished like Cuil

so, is there any real chance to survive for a new search engine?

personally, I believe that the answer is a BIG "NO"

Probably to make a bit revenu, but you pritty much anwserd your own question. Live search went Bankrupt and reopend as Bing didnt they? Yahoo search is poor i think but thats the closest thing near to google.

Why are you making threads about which company will survive in the future? And also new SE can survive if it's good.

I think you would have to have a lot of startup capital to compete with Google. I never used Cuil simply for the reason that I kept forgetting about it. Bing and Yahoo have capital and recognition, but Google is still better in my opinion.

Facebook search uses Bing for external results.

yes there is, there is always room for change. google has been taking over everything for a while, soon people will get bored of it and something new will come in. nothing lasts forever.

yes, but its use is transparent to users, while, I suggest to FB to offer a full Google-like SE page (something like shown in the page linked in my signature)

The only real threat to google is something like facebook, not another traditional search engine.

Make a SE that had better results than google and yes you would do better, as long as it gave people what they needed in one search! Otherwise you would need a fairly large budget or you could start of by country and work really hard at it.
