When you are searching for a web hosting company it can be a daunting task with so many web hosting companies out in the web universe today. Here are the top 10 questions ask before choosing a web hosting company.

    1. Space - How much disk space will you require/need?

    2. Bandwidth - Cover your needs and allow for expansion if needed.

    3. Budget – Set a realistic budget for yourself. How much are you willing to spend? lowest price too highest. Being a little flexible on your price will give more hosting choices.

    4. Support - Do they provide at least 24/7 Support Desk? Support is very important, this is a must. You should have access to support 24 hours a day. Test the support desk. Choose anytime of the day or night and contact the support desk to test response times, ask any questions you might have. Do you need phone support or live chat support. ask these questions before you sign up with a web host.

    5. Don't forget to read the web hosting company TOS & privacy policy.

    6. Features - Ask yourself what features you would like to have. Do you want one-click-scripts installers like fantastico or installatron? Do you want a website builder? Do you require a money-back guarantee? What kind of uptime does the web host provide? Anything above 98% is considered pretty well.

    7. Control Panels - Do you want Cpanel, DirectAdmin, or Plesk?

    8. Are there any setup charges, account migration charges or any hidden charges?

    9. Try to get test download file so as to crosscheck their network speed.

10.Do they offer any coupons or special deals?

Hope this helps you out in your journey to finding a web host. Thank you and god bless.

As per your suggestion you say, ask those question, but you really think a buyer does not need to have their own judgement to know about hosting when they buy, because as due to competition we all know, most host now provide unlimited features, which really does not exits, if it does, than why site gets suspended, when a site use too much of bandwidth.

For example some host offer 200gb of bandwidth in low plan, do you think that is really realistic, now what buyer should check in it, according to you if they check 200gb, than its so attractive, but can they really use 200gb bandwidth

More than checking feature buyer need to have experience as well about hosting, how it works.

Question #11 - Do not forget to ask them about their money back guarantee policy. Some condition may not stated in their TOS but in agreement when you sign up (with a tiny font)

Question #12 - Ask them clearly about their backup schedule and policy first. This is a most misleading by many hosting companies. They may back up for you daily but may charge you for each time you called for the backup to them.

    He means that:

    11) Check both the TOS and agreement you "sign" when getting new service.

    12) Many hosts do nightly backups, etc., but when you need to access one of those backups, they charge you a fee for it.

If I'm about to search for Shared Hosting provider I'd try to speak to anyone from the web host and to find out how do they do customer support, where is their data center, which providers do they use, and do they provide client side services.

You also want to look at some reviews about speed and downtime. Downtime and slow speeds are terrible!

Great tips you've got here. Lots of people have no clue what they're doing when they're looking for a web host. #7--maybe you could expound on that? My guess is people have no clue what the difference is between those option. We use cPanel & I find it easy to use, but I guess everybody has their own preference...

Yeah. Many companies today rely on overselling because many clients today tend to "overbuy" the amount of space and bandwidth that they really need.
