Photoshop is by far the best. If you google tutorials on how people develop their pieces, then you can learn from it and create things just as good as they can. Practice makes perfect.

I agree with all above. I am a graphic design teacher and I tell my students that if you can draw the logo in the sand with your big toe, it's simple enough! The customer should be able to look at it and instantly recognize your brand and what you stand for. Think of some of the most successful brands (Nike, Apple, Microsoft Windows, Volcom, Toyota to name a very few). It doesn't matter if you're 100 feet away from their logo. It's INSTANTLY recognizable and you instantly have an image in your head of who they are and what they stand for.

A logo that is simplistic but delivers the overall theme or message in a powerful way nonetheless.

    logoonlinepros,

Thanks for sharing the tips. That's some really good advice and I wish that more logo designers would follow it. Way too often I see designers breaking tons of these rules in just a single design, and it's almost sad that they really don't know what kind of perfection their really missing out on.

The first point is my favorite, and I emphasize it a lot in my teachings. Minimalism is the strongest power you can have on your side when it comes to designing a logo. Too often designers try to make them noticeable by making them really ornate and flashy, but this is just the wrong way to go. The most famous logos from Nike to McDonalds are extremely minimalistic but extremely powerful and effective at the same time. It takes a skilled designer to make the logo minimalistic but still make it bold and powerful.
