Buying What host would you recommend for me.

I am currently starting up a web design business.

I need a host for my website, and it is imperative that the host will be online at all times and have fast load times.

Also, if I was to host clients websites on the same server that would be good.

Does any one have good recommendation that are good value for money?

    Hello,

Do you have any other specific requirements? e.g control panel preference, script installer, disk space/bandwidth?

As you know there are many hosts out there that will be able to meet your requirements. I recommend not going for the cheapest or a 'unlimited' host as it sounds like you're after a high quality host.

    Hi,

I would not recommend the above host provider if it's not good quality. Of course, they have good quality of host especially for business needs.

    Cheers!

I would recommend you to go with any reputable Hosting Companies like Hostgator, Dreamhost, Bluehost etc...
Their pricing might be little high compared to others but they offer reliable service and good uptime...

Well I am unsure of the amount of bandwidth I would need. Disk space should not be an issue though, as most of my clients will be small/medium business's that don't have media intensive websites. Bandwidth will depend on how many clients I end up with on the server. I also do like using Cpanel. I hosted a website on cpanel previously and it worked well, however the server was somewhat unpredictable so I will not be using the same host.

Thankyou for the opinions so far guys :) keep them coming.

I should also add that it would be necessary to be able to purchase .com.au domain names.

You may want to buy a reseller plan to host your web design clients websites so that you can provide separate/individual control panel logins for them.

Get a VPS with 1gb ram or more, that way you will be able to host several websites and develop CMS sites without hitting low memory limits in shared accounts.

Exactly what I was about to suggest.

I doubt the OP would need something quite this big. By the sounds of it, he's hosting small/medium businesses, with little disk space requirements, and as usually is the case will have smaller bandwidth needs as well. A shared/reseller account should be fine for this, though it would be advisable to go with a provider which can easily upgrade you to a more dedicated service such as VPS/dedicated server.

Plenty of hosts offer cPanel/WHM as their control panel of choice, so that shouldn't be an issue to find. Since this is business based, do you have a specific location you are targeting? Might help narrow down your choices. Also, as for the need to register .com.au domains, this doesn't need to be provided by the hosting provider. A lot of times you will find domain and hosting providers separated, some will offer both, but would suggest not having all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.

I'd recommend not to go for BIG names like HG, Bluehost etc...

There is a website called www.lunarpages.com. They're legit and very flexible.
    Good luck... :)

I definitely agree on this one. They are reliable, good service and I don't think the price is very high at all. The Baby Plan at HG for example is only $10 a month, and I believe that would fit your needs perfectly. If not, it's always easy to upgrade.
