    Hello DP members,

Please check this wordpress site, http://www.herbgardeningessentials.com

Here in my end, it loads very slow. Is it the graphics that I have added in my homepage? (the bullet points is an image) The pictures are at maximum quality and if I try to reduce the quality from High to medium, would that matter?

I also added an exit popup, could that be one of the reasons?

Let me hear your thoughts concerning this.

    Thanks a lot!

The page loaded fairly fast for me, and site responds decently to ping requests. Not sure what the issue is here? The image with the 3 pictures is 200Kb alone, reduction in quality there should help load times. It also depends on your internet connection speeds and location from server.

Looking through Firefox it says 20Kb, so it's not all that bad, could still be optimized though.

You should use Load Impact's Pages analyser, it will tell you if it is slow for everyone or just you.

Decreasing the image quality will show some increase in site performance, and also try not to use too many plugins.. they will slow the site performance..

You should take care of the below things to reduce your site loading time...

    - Use the SmushIT plugin to optimize your images
    - Use the WPCache plugin
    - Use less number of images.
    - If you have to use a lot of images, make sure you are compressing them prior to uploading them to the server.. You can use photoshop or some other image editing software
    - Reduce the number of Java Scripts you use on your blog.
    - Make sure you have a good hosting provider. The speed of the site really depends on how fast your provider is helping the rendering of images.

use W3TC plugin. It really help.

But if you have enough money, use dedicated server.
