Where should I start?

I have created a Fiverr style site with custom design and multiple pricing options.
The script is working great and is of high enough quality to actually work well.

What steps would you take free or paid?

Steps taken so far:
Fbook page setup
Twitter account setup
Socially bookmarked on Digg, StumbleUpon and Delicious

Do it all. Buy as much adverting as possible.

 

Write some articles and post to sites like ezine articles and go aricles.
They allow you to have links in your bio
Also use social poster each time you post

This is a great way to get things rolling.

Treat your site like any other site and promote the he'll out of it. They are countless ways to promote just got to find the ways you like and stick with them.

I think all steps are required. It depends upon you which is more convenient for you.

 

Promoting your website on forums would be a great way to get some traffic instantly.

You need a deep pocket ad campaign for that type of sites. But once it gets rolling...

 

Paid Advertising is one method.

 

Find out who your competitors are, then check out who links to them using Alexa or another similar site. Then try and get your site posted there. Good way to get backlinks.

 

I would just aim for organic traffic to get yourself off the ground! Don't bother paying for traffic as it is a very good way to lose a lot of money! Instead try ranking high for popular search terms by building lots and lots of good backlinks with the appropriate anchor text! Once you start to rank high then you will see the money rolling in!

 

The nice thing is we have seen a quick response from the social bookmarking and other small things we have been doing. We made two quick sales today 1 for something I posted and one for $10.00 so nice to see things actually happening quickly.

I have never been great at forum advertising other than with signatures.

I agree with back links and paid advertising so I am thinking Facebook since I find it more controlled than adwords these days.

We have added a give away and will be advertising it on the site hopefully once I find the best place to put the image lol.

 

you have generate traffic now which means getting the word out about your site

 

write quality articles, use some auto poster for facebook. and so on.
add friends at facebook, but 50 max a day, don't spam them, use page suggestion, make some events.
use google adwords

 

SEO your site for a competitive search term. Even if it takes months to rank, it's worth it!

I'm glad your starting to see some positive results! That means that your on the right track. Just keep doing what your doing and it can only go up from here. The only way for things to go down hill is if you quit or loose focus.

Keep doing whatcha doin and when what your doing starts really kicking into high gear, then you can start adding even more techniques to improve your traffic.
