Ofcourse you should. Now a days forums are becoming more and more important for different type of sites. A forum may also bring in regular members to your site..

No, not with 50 visitors a day. Stagnant/inactive forums are depressing. As said above, have some members who will regularly post & promote your forum, and have a promotional strategy (giving away free stuff) before starting it.

Digitalpoint, iwebtool all work because of the "other" offerings & tools.

Without something to attract people to view the forum & post, the forum will pretty much resemble a blog or rant site.

I disagree eXe. You can have a fairly buzzing forum with 50 (or maybe 100) a day if your topic is niche enough.

    Peace out

Perhaps. Then the traffic will have to be extremely targetted, preferably from search engines.

It's the initial traffic to get the forum going which is important, not the additional offerings. Sites based solely on a forum can do very well. It's obviously made much easier if you can tap into existing traffic sources.

Should you start a forum? Yes/No

Do you know how to manage a forum? Do you know how to work on the theme and script? Do you see yourself able to start hundreds of threads about the topic your forums have to keep them alive and provide the users with subjects to discuss? Are you willing to spend MORE time than you spent on the site? The forums don't have 1 hour every 2 weeks. You'll find yourself working 4-6 hours a day to grow your community. Can you do this? Then do it. And enjoy the hard work and also the nice community. But don't do it because "it's cool" or it would be a good traffic trick. Too many bad forums are born this way.

I agree - I'd go with a blog maybe something like WordPress then you can allow your guests to post comments and such. Once you've gotten a large enough crowd then try for a forum.

you can start your own forum in a few minutes but you must ask some questions to your self.

can you find traffic for your forum?
can you find members for your forum?

if your answer is yes for both question, start your own forum
