I am posting this because a poster in another thread blamed the Egyptian culture for child sex slavery. In response, I picked a random Islamic nation to show that this is not an Egyptian phenomenon. The U.S. State Dept Trafficking in Persons Report, June 2009 says: "Indonesia is a major source of women, children, and men trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and commercial sexual exploitation." IPSNEws reports: An estimated 230,000 Indonesian women and children have been trafficked from their home villages in Java, Sumatra, West Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi to be employed as sex workers and cheap labor in urban areas at home and the sex trade overseas. The government has recently brought home more than 300 women who were employed as sex workers in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. Unicef reports: In Indonesia, it is estimated that 100,000 children and women are trafficked each year. Child prostitution is on the rise, and one third of the sex workers are being under 18 years old. Asia Child Rights reports: According to the survey, children in the country enter the commercial sex market at between 15 and 17 years of age, sometimes with the support of parents and other relatives. Although the survey does not contain figures, an ILO report released last month reportedly indicated that more than 10,000 children under 18 years of age are prostitutes in five major cities in Indonesia. V-Day estimates that there are "At least 650,000 prostitutes in Indonesia; 30% are children." Here's an Indonesia girl who was sold as a slave to Saudi Arabia: Here is associated CNN story. Even Al Jazeera reports on the issue -- or are they just helping to advertise Indonesian sex slavery to waiting customers? Al Jazeera reports: One resident, Sanni, used to work in the rice fields. Now she can stay at home and has enough money to finally build a bigger house. The reason? Because she and her husband decided to take their 15 year old daughter from school and send her to work in Jakarta as a prostitute. ... But still it's hard to convince parents to stop selling their children when the authorities don't do anything to stop them. ... Sukara, the village chief, said: "If these parents see that their neighbours are successful and happy and when they see their child is beautiful they will still sell her." ... The village chief says he gives parents a strong warning when they sell their children to become prostitutes. But he has never asked for their arrest, although they violate anti-trafficking laws. ... Police usually only arrest the girls during raids on brothels, but their parents get off the hook. ... In the small village of Bongas alone, five girls have died of Aids over the last couple of months. It's difficult to blame this on the Egyptian culture, or on the Jews, or on the United States.
i am so confused that why did you bring religion in all these? such kind of evil work happened every where but why are you blamming religion for all these? BTW it is not difficult to see much higher static of child sex in United states: Estimated 5-10 million prostitutes walk US streets everyday. Absolute prohibition of adultery, prostitution and other forms of sexual promiscuity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_the_United_States Child sex Every 32 seconds one rape takes place in United States of America. According to the Justice Department, one in two rape victims are under age 18; one in six are under age 12. (Child Rape Victims, 1992. U.S. Department of Justice.) Complete report: http://www.paralumun.com/issuesrapestats.htm Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape#United_States i appritiate that you select an Islamic nation but plz next time select an unislamic nation too, because people also want to know about them
And we've had the first poster try to deflect blame from Islam. Keep trying, if there is a god and it is the one god among tens of thousands which you have randomly selected, you will be rewarded after death for helping to keep these children living as sex slaves during your lifetime. Muhammad kept slaves and recommended their use for sex and he also molested children as young as six and raped children as young as nine. This phenomenon is a part of Islam and is indivisible from Islam as a whole. You cannot destroy sex slavery without destroying Islam. Quran 5:87 O ye who believe! Forbid not the good things which Allah hath made lawful for you, and transgress not, Lo! Allah loveth not transgressors. Muslims cannot forbid child sex or slavery without offending Allah. And what happens when you offend Allah? 3:196 Let not the vicissitude (of the success) of those who disbelieve, in the land, deceive thee (O Muhammad). 3:197 It is but a brief comfort. And afterward their habitation will be hell, an ill abode. Act to prevent child molestation, child rape, and sex slavery and you will go to hell.
are u still visting anti religion websites? bad to know first let me know does you mentioned verses make any scene with the topic? I think an American minister who converted to Islam can explain you very well or may be Dr. Zakir Naik explain it in short and yeah Thank you for asking question about my religion
Thanks for the post on rape stats in the US. Obviously a very concerning problem the government is actively trying to address. What does it have to do with child sex slavery? It sounds like you are trying to defend the act of children being sold into sex slavery by their own families. Is this what you are trying to do? If you want to try and equate rape statistics to child sex slavery statistics (numbers which are not equatable in my opinion), you'd have to apply a bit of multiplication. Let me do the math for you. First off, we need a baseline for the age at which a girl might be sold into the sex trade in Indonesia. For the sake of argument, lets put it at 15(I've heard it happens to girls as young as 8). A girl sold into the sex trade at age 15 will not be an adult until age 18, so she will be raped as a child for 3 years. For round numbers, lets say she works 5 days a week(I would imagine they actually work every day), and is only raped 3 times a day. 5*52*3=780 rapes a year per girl sold into slavery. 100,000 children sold into the trade per year * 3 years worth of children (15,16,17) being actively raped *780 rapes per year per child = 234 million child rapes in Indonesia every year(very conservatively). Of course this bit of multiplication still doesn't make child slavery statistics equal US Rape statistics, because children sold into slavery have no future. They will continue to work as slaves after age 18. They will not get an education. They will not contribute to society. They will likely die an early death from sexually transmitted diseases or at the hands of their owner who no longer finds them to be profitable. The next time you feel the need to defend the child sex trade, please smack yourself in the face with a hammer a few times, before typing.
did you mean selling your body for money does not called slavery? tell the meaning of slavery to OP not me, who shared static of prostitutes in Indonesia oh i am in mistake!!!
Did you follow my advice and smack yourself in the face a few times with a hammer before typing? I certainly hope so. Selling your own body for money is not called slavery. Someone else selling your body for money IS called slavery. Start with the families that receive money for selling their children to the people who operate the sex trade. Take then those people who sell the services of those children to their customers in an effort to recoup some of their initial investment. Yes, you are in mistake.
May be i am at mistake. But the purpose of sharing th static of prostitutes, because the thread started shared it in the name of slavery. i am not the person like others who bring new topics instead of writing about the thread and read the definition of slavery http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery Slavery is a system in which human beings are the property of others. Selling your body for money is also considered as slavery. Because its become property of other, who pay you for that Good to know that, but read Quran from Islamic web not Anti Islamic web
Child sex slavery is definitely not just an Egyptian phenomenon, and yes, unfortunately it does happen in the United States. For a parent in the US to sell their child as a prostitute is almost unheard of, yet it has happened. More commonly, a child under 18 may find themselves in this position after running away from a dysfunctional home life, only to get into a worse situation. This is too important of an issue to ignore, no matter where it happens in the world.
Again you are at mistake(or is that in mistake). If you consider selling your body to be slavery, you are the only one. I sell my body, or more specifically my brain, for a few hours every day. In exchange for the use of my body(brain), I receive money, which I use to feed and clothe myself and my family. In other words, I enjoy the financial benefits from selling my body. Call it prostitution, call it what you like (I call it consulting, but prostitution is not too far off). The government takes a portion of the proceeds from selling my body. If I didn't have a good accountant, that portion would be in excess of 50%. In my opinion, when the government enjoys more of the money earned from selling my body than I do, I cease to be a prostitute and start to become a slave, though in fairness, I always have the option to simply not work at all. The children you are referring to A) have no choice in the matter and B) do not enjoy ANY of the proceeds from the obscene acts they are forced to commit. Are you getting any of this, or are you still in mistake?
Are you sure you are interpreting that correctly? You might want to verify with on our many Islamic Historians here for the appropriate redefined and censored versions.
The dude is kind of right. If you go to LA, Toronto, Vegas, etc there are tons of kids being trafficked. I just don't see where religion fits in.
Sorry, but you are completely incorrect. http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...vJm5Ec&sig=AHIEtbSI1YOJGjHFsu9yzgmG1LzHUS3tYg There may be kids who turn to prostitution in the cities you mentioned, but there are certainly not families selling their children into slavery 100,000 at a time like they do in Indonesia. I'll leave Will to make whatever claim he likes as to how this relates to a given religion, though the implication seems to be that Indonesia, being overwhelmingly Islamic, seems to have no problems selling their children into forced sexual slavery.
I can't speak for Toronto, but in LA and Vegas, as in most major metropolitan US cities teens are selling themselves, not their parents. Many are run-aways and looking for a means to support their lifestyle, drug habits, or just eat. I'm not aware of a sex slave trade operation in the US. I'm sure it could exist, but I highly doubt it does in the capacity with which is does in 3rd world countries.
If you look at the statistics from the link I provided, you'll find all industrialized nations combined account for a little over 10.8% of the trafficking or 270,000 people. What small part the US and/or Canada play in that number is almost entirely made up of foreigners brought in, not kids taken from our streets or sold off by their parents. Asia makes of 56% of the number, or 1.4 million people, of which fully half are children.
you folks are discussing something, where poverty is more responsible rather than religion. during the sunami here in india there were reports how parents were forced to sell their childs, or how orphans have no options but to sell their bodies. btw the sunami hitted indonesia the hardest, and ya it killed more than 200,000 worldwide.
