No site is bad just because it's .info or some other less popular TLD. The quality of a website depends on its backlinks, site structure, content and domain age.

This is not true. While .info domains are quite cheap (during the first year only) they're certainly not free. There are many high ranking & high quality .info sites that are a great if you want to buy backlinks.
I think the TLD isn't important, if you looking for a directory, you should focus on how much PR is it and how much traffic does it have per month It's good point
