Question for Christians

Why is that Christians claim that Jesus (God according to Christians) died?

When in the bible: 1 Timothy 1:17-All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen (new living translation)

There are a number of translations of this, so you will come across variations.

"forever and ever" means forever, not for a period of time, stop being God for a while then continue being God, this is not "forever".

So yes this verse contradicts the idea that God died on a cross.

Is this one of many contradictions or is there some explanation to it?

    ----

ps: there are certain individuals that I will not reply to, you know who you are so don't waste your time.

What screwball translation have you dug up?
1 Timothy 1:17 (King James Version)
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

There is no contradiction. Christian tradition holds that Jesus died and came back to life three days later.

How can you have Internet access and remain so embarrassingly ignorant?

Even though I am Atheist I grew up in a strong Christian family. From what I've been brought up on, they celebrate the fact that Jesus came back after he died for "our" sins.

Like what Will posted, I will post again:

Depends which version of the bible you want to believe. Personally don't believe in it, however there are some nice stories and nice principles behind the way one should live.

Jesus is only a human being, a prophet. He is not a god. There is no way he can die just to save the sins of mankind.

Prophet Jesus aka Prophet Isa (for Muslims)
I know a lot of people were too confused with the deviated concept in Christians from its true teachings of only one God which is Allah causing most to take up atheism. I wish you can have a good look at Islam.

It isn't specifically Christianity which has mad me Atheist. It is the entirety of religion that makes me Atheist. Scriptures from old books don't provide me the evidence I require.

    @echo

There is however a contradiction in the verse Will posted too, it mentions "forever" which means eternally, we know that Christians say God died for a while, so basically he was NOT God "forever", if you know what I mean. What I tried to do is highlight another major contradiction in the Christian faith, which should make people think.

@weptheme, you are right, many have left Christianity because it's so confusing and went to atheism, and some (not all) will avoid all religion just because they had a bad experience with Christianity.

@SolarProduct, I have something better for you to deny.

What if I say that Jesus is son of the God? He had mother, birth and he called God Godfather.
Will it convince you that there is only one God in Christianity or will you deny that?

    :p

According to you he is a prophet, unfortunately you understand nothing about Christianity. Are you being ignorant or do you ignore the simplest fact that Christianity is a monotheistic religion which believes in the existence of one god. The principle of the holy trinity reflects the complexity of God and teaches us how the Father, son and holy spirit are all united in one form.

The op must know the arguements are more towards muslims about their religion. Starting a thread to criticize another religion is not going to end well for the op.

I thought Jesus was the 'Son' of God, not God himself, that's his father (in the book).

I cannot find the contradiction you're aiming at. The old testament clearly indicates the first coming of Jesus in the new testament and his death for our salvation.

The father, son and the holy spirit are all united in one form - God.

But wasn't God still in heaven when Jesus was on the Earth?

Did he even exist? I have no idea and do believe the bible is just a guide to life written by men eons ago anyhow. But, according to the bible wasn't he supposed to be the 'son' of God whilst God was in Heaven? I did read it but a bloody long time ago lol.

That's hilarious. Who would email you for not replying to them? It's cute you ignore people when you get butt hurt though, like in a pathetic way.

Anyway, it seems Will has already responded to you - first post.

The value are more important than the question. If he gave away true noral values then fighting on this question is useless.
Also that shows how many people he must have put in his ignore list and instead of keeping it to himself he is houting out loud. That shows some attitue .:D

Was Jesus God, if so, was he (or still is) God on an eternal basis or part time?
