blekko: A New Search Engine Launched to Kill Google

Discussion in 'All Other Search Engines' started by kmamaji, Nov 6, 2010.

Newly launched search engine called Blekko has been launched and hailed as a 'Google killer'. On a request of users blekko is been launched. It filters out all poor quality and irrelevant websites, as they’ve overrun the web and dominate search engine results.

Blekko is using slashtags. Slashtags search only the sites you want and cut out the spam sites. Use friends, experts, community or your own slashtags to slash in what you want and slash out what you don't.

Do you think it will be helpful and do you really think it can kill Google?

That i know, but what makes it unique from other search engine is with the use of 'slashtags', or different words separated by a slash.

I doubt it will take over just yet.
Look at how long it took for Google to take over from Yahoo. Although a huge success, it took quite a few years for Google to become a household name.
Also, Google does a lot more than just search engines.

Well technically google shouldn't just buy everyone out, because they will get sued by the general court for creating a monopoly :D.

I don't think it will catch on, as most users wouldn't bother messing around with slash tags.

I agree with Red Kite. If you've got to spend more than 30 seconds explaining what they're for and what the benefit is, you've lost a big chunk of the potential audience.
