    As you said Spammers will loose followers yes it will, Casual your followers will loose your update if you are son infrequent as they may follow more people who are regularly updating. Smartest is the right thing to do close eye on trends and tweet those.

    There are also various tools which you can use to measure your influence or effectiveness of your tweets. Check this link below
