Keeping assh*les off of airplanes seems to be a task our federal government is having a difficult time getting a handle on, even though the highly targeted Israeli airlines have been flying incident free for more than three decades without having to grope randomly selected women, children, and elderly people. Knowing our leadership, they will put together a blue ribbon panel to study the issue for a year, and decide another 4000 TSA employees in Washington earning a minimum of $105,000 a year before benefits and pension will solve the problem. In the meantime, potential terrorist threats like this man are going to have to give up their constitutional rights if they want to use public air transportation within the US. Personally, I'm happy our government is spending the money to keep us safe. Most other countries originating flights that terminate in the US aren't abusing their airline passengers in this way, but we here in the states can proudly say that no flight originating in the US will have a passenger with PETN(a substance not obtainable in the US) strapped to his/her groin. Of course I am concerned that with the new security procedures, the terrorists will evolve their tactics and store their explosives in their rectum, where they cannot be detected by either pat down or body scan. A quick trip to the bathroom to remove the explosives, an attached cellphone/cellphone battery, and a quick press of said explosives against a window will unquestionably bring down a flight. Based on this very legitimate concern, I am proposing that every airline passenger be given a rectal cavity search prior to being permitted on a public airline. Anything short of such a procedure I consider to be a major failure in the government doing its job to keep us safe. I know there are those of you out there that say profiling passengers like El Al does would be exponentially more cost effective and far less intrusive. To you I say, SHUT UP YOU RACISTS! Give me my 4000 overpaid TSA bureaucrats and my rectal cavity search. I'm looking forward to it! What do you think?
Absolutely. Anyone unwilling to happily submit to a thorough rectal search, is obviously a person with something to hide! p.s. I never fly. P.s. ps. I wanted to add this video b/c it's funny, I think... I saw it on YouTube, and I guess it's a show in Australia? Not really sure. But, they filmed themselves walking around the airport wearing nothing but boxers and a see-through plastic bag. Then, one of them registered to fly with the name Al Kyder, listen at about 2:18 to 2:20. They are calling him to board the flight, it sounds like Mr. AlQaeda. LOL.
I had my junk massaged by an airport security guy in Australia about a week ago. You can manufacture PETN from nitric Acid, lye, acetone, and pentaerythritol. If you don't have access to pentaerythritol, you can manufacture it using formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. If you have trouble getting acetaldehyde, you can manufacture that using acetylene and mercury salts. I think that every passenger should be required to down a shot of bacon vodka before boarding a flight.
Not sure if I'm more concerned that you know how to manufacture PETN or that I heard you got back in line for a 2nd time.
I took option number 4 . Personally I could make explosives they can't even dream of detecting but I'd never do anything to officially hurt another fellow man , especially by this type off attacks . So my opinion is that profiling and advanced explosive scanners are more then enough . I vehemently oppose the naked screens and any cavity search .
My sentiments exactly. More state sponsored comedy, depending on whether or not you find pedophilia humorous.
Obamanation, you might like this... See Me, Feel Me (awesome song)! After you watch the video, you can sign the petition to Boycott Air Travel!
Good stuff. Petition signed and mailed. Not a super high send count yet, though its only been around a short while. This guy needs an appearance on O'Reilly.
I'm not shy at all but I'm not going through the scanner and I'm not getting felt up. It's the principle of it, this crap doesn't help anything.
LOL. I could tell which one was your signature. I've been sitting here watching videos related to this, and believe, as many do, that it might be considered a violation of the Fourth Amendment. We are protected against unreasonable searches and seizures, and the naked body scan or enhanced pat down would definitely be considered a search. This could be considered unreasonable as one or the other is being performed on everyone, even without any suspicion, even to little children. Another article I was reading is that if you get to the airport, refuse the naked body scan, then decide to refuse the pat down as well, you won't be free to leave until you're fully interrogated. Crazy big brother stuff.
LOL. Seriously, after reading about this, I'm boycotting the airlines. I'm fortunate though, in that the furthest family member from me is only about a 12 hour drive. These airline methods do seem quite intrusive. Looking up information about the Fourth Amendment, here's the guidelines for a "search" or "stop and frisk":
wonder who gains by stripping a child. i am not an expert in US laws, but isnt these laws kills the very spirit on which the country stands. some days ago there was an news item that US was sending tanks to afghanistan. what were they doing for the last 9 years. what are the marines fighting with? slingshots?
I feel like I'm missing something here. I understand people's reluctance to submit to a pat-down, but I don't understand people's objections to swapping out the old scanning technology with a new scanning technology. I suppose years of hard living punctuated by episodes of being hospitalized or arrested has inured me to the annoyance of strangers doing strange things to my body, but I just can't make myself "feel" that a scanner that I can't see/touch/taste/hear/feel really affects me in any way. I am not seeing what "liberty" I am giving up by having someone scan me. I am here, they are there. It would be like complaining about someone looking at me when I am in a public place. Everyone who looks at me "scans" me with their eyes. I recently had my first colonscopy. It's purpose was to extend my lifespan. These new full body scanners have the same purpose. If you were boarding a flight with a group of young men with olive skin and shaved bodies... wouldn't you feel better if they went through the full body scanner? How much better then for everyone to walk through the scanner, as Muslims don't all look the same or come from the same nations. Please explain to me what I'm missing here...
Will, I didn't feel this way at first, to be honest, I hadn't given it much thought. However, the more I read about it, the more I object. The new scanning technology is basically like a strip search. It shows a lot of detail under your clothes. This is an example: It just seems a bit crazy that in order to fly, you'll need to submit to what is basically nude pictures or having someone groping at you. It does seem like though, for terrorists, they would probably know this and stick explosives up their rectum, or find some other way to get around this. Edit: Another thought, but what if everyone just accepts this? When will it stop? Could they start doing searches like this every time you go to a sporting event, concerts, government offices, etc. etc...
But do they strip search you? The machine does essentially that. When you think about how the amount of volume that colonoscopy scanner occupied in your ass and replace that with PETN, it seems pretty clear any terrorist worth his salt can keister(shove up his ass) enough explosives to bring down a plane while being completely undetectable to body scan and/or pat down. A rectal cavity search is the only thing that would find it. What will be our response to that? I believe profiling based on race(olive skin), or religious beliefs(self proclaimed Muslims) in isolation is unproductive and insufficient. Today the most valuable single piece of information could be whether or not you have ever traveled to a place like Yemen or Pakistan, or more importantly, in the last 10 years. Trolling public forums like this one, and figuring out who guys like Betaturn are would obviously be smart(that is probably happening anyway). As we get better information on internal terror threats(spying on our own people), people from areas where there are active and credible investigations should get more scrutiny. I'm not saying we ignore race or religion, that would be stupid. Those are just single factors amongst many. From what I've read about El Al, they have intelligence agents in the airports clandestinely interviewing questionable passengers in the airports for more information. That personal in airport evaluation(Is the guy under stress, etc, etc, etc) is probably very valuable as well. Forgive me if I find the pat downs of small children and grandmothers in today's environment a bit ridiculous and a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars. I just flew back from Central America yesterday and let me assure you, there were no pat downs/body scans for passengers boarding that US bound flight. It wasn't until my connecting flight after clearing customs that I got submitted to the idiocy. Do we really think domestic travelers are more likely to be carrying explosives and weapons? If memory serves me correctly, the underwear bomber was on board a flight originating from Schipol.
It seems far more like an X-Ray (except without the heavy dose of radiation) than a strip search to me. In a few years, we'll probably be able to do the same tests from space. It's funny you should mention that, because it was Central America where I dealt with the most extreme airport security. I was leaving Bogota and a skinny little fellow wearing an olive drab uniform and carrying an assault rifle came up to me and spoke to me in Spanish. My Spanish isn't good, but I quickly figured out that I was to follow him. He took me to a small room with a big machine in it. It turns out that the little guy with the assault rifle was also the X-Ray technician. He stood me in front of the machine and took a full abdominal X-Ray of me -- without putting on a lead apron himself. He then led me out of the room and pointed me towards the departure gates. I must have passed the exam, because I boarded my flight back to Colorado about an hour later. That was old tech -- a real cancer-causing X-Ray machine. That's not too healthy. But these new machines... eh... I have trouble getting worked up over them.
I don't fly often enough to be too concerned about patdowns or scanners but I think Will.Spencer has a point, even though the likelyhood is probably more than 100 million to 1 that there will be a terrorist on board. You're stuck in an airplane, it's best to feel as safe as possible. Like it or not, we now all think of terrorists and planes so best to avoid the risk if possible. I think it's the 'change' that causing most angst, this probably happened when driving licenses were first introduced too but that has become 'a part' of driving just as much as this safety issue will become part of flying. However, in the most extreme security example given, 'not giving them an apron' may work better. If the people scanning you knew they were adding to their own health woes by putting you through that then it would make sure they consider you a real threat before scanning you. Plus, the high turnover of security guards (dead by cancer) will help ensure embedded corruption won't become a problem. EDIT Scanner-proof undies keep passengers' 'junk' private I wonder if these will take off before people realise that TSA would need to revert to a manual strip. and in other news: 'Nude' scanner images published on web
Nude Scanners= 50% for saftey and another 50% for inner satisfaction of seeing goodies I'm not a good cook. What's that PETN?
I'd be sure to keep a potato in my shorts under my scanner proof undies, or perhaps a lead lined penis sheath. In principal, I agree with the need for scans, but this PC non-profiling nonsense needs to be done away with by any means necessary. Why is it our government must do away with cost effective and less intrusive for cost prohibitive and intrusive?
