Creating a new business shortly offering clients hosting. Seriously considering HostGator for my reseller package. Anyone have any experience with hostgator reseller? What are the load times of websites with Hostgator? Thanks
I have used Hostgator for 2-3 years and i'm pretty happy with their services. Customer service used to be slow but now they answer pretty fast and they give good answers as well. Loading time is probably dependent on lots of factors like scripts you run, your picture size, flash and in general the number of http requests to your pages.
HostGator is great for shared hosting and reseller, I don't know about their vps or dedicated box coz i didn't use them. But their hosting is very reliable and the support is excellent.
I use hostgator more than a year and i'm satisfied lot. i have that yearly package that cast me $100 and i thing that is best for the money
Best deal on the internet for me, 5 sites with them so far, excellent control panel with instant setting up of great scripts , word press, drupal etc. Just $9.95 a month and no down time! Can't be beaten in my opinion.
The reseller plan makes it real easy to create an individual account for clients, you can even setup a cpanel/ftp for them. And support is top notch, you can contact them live online, email or toll-free by phone 24/7. If your customer has trouble and you have to contact them you won't have to play email tag for a few hours to get the answer.
Their reseller account has worked perfect for me, plus they have a page with about 100 tutorial videos you can educate yourself on
I've been using Hostgator for about 8 months now and have had no problems. As far as the reller program I would't know but IM Report Card gives them an A-. Pretty good grade.
I used to love using HostGator, I had plans with them for about a year and then I switched. Why? Because they claimed they supported Django applications but really didn't.
I just moved my 15 websites from my old host to them and amazingly, they did the transfer in 45 minutes, for free, from start to finish, without any problem. The only thing I don't like so far, when you create a new account, even for a subdomain not even a new domain, there is propagation time to wait, and your new site will point to an ads/search page until ready. With my old host there was zero time.
I have sites hosted by Hostgator and a reseller account at knownhost. In my opinion Hostgator is the best because of the support they offer.
Hostgator is an excellent hosting company whether shared or reseller. However, please be noted about one limitation I experienced personally before - number of files. If you create most basic websites then it should not be any problem but except for custom made script which may generated files more than they allowed.
I prefer Hostgator because I love their cPanel. It's easy to upload pages to my site, install wordpress, check my traffic stats - whatever. I think it's a great option for newbies.
