Do a lot of backlinks from the same website helps?

What's better?
1. 1,000 backlinks from 1 website
2. 50 links from 50 different websites

For me I think it's - 2. 50 links from 50 websites, but I stumble up on some sites that have 1,000 links from one website that ranks better.

Any thoughts?

 

It's always best to gain links from as many different sources as possible (different IP's). Multiple links from the same websites doesn't do you any good.

 

I do not think so because to get first page ranking for any keywords you first need to beat the sites which are appearing on first page . so the point is it is not about what you are doing but it is about what your competitors doing and you have to do it better way to beat..

the second one is better.. but you also have to consider the quality and relevancy of the link..

 

You need IP diversity. Anything after the first link on the same domain will not be given much weight as the site has already "voted" for your site.

 

Getting backlinks from the different ip is good because backlinks from the same ip considered as a 1 backlink

 

I'd agree with you.
1000 links from one site is equivalent to 1 link from that site(Probably more). It's the same in the case of Forum signatures & Sitewide blogroll links.

 

if that 1 site has pr7-9 it would be good.

 

Are you sure you did not stumble upon sites that have gotten the 1,000 from some blog, joomla or other platform that automatically generates tons of useless pages that don't mean squat anyway?

There is no doubt second one is better. Your links should be from different ips.

 

is it true that only one comment on a site (with a signature) is gonna do me good, but if I comeback from time to time on that site and writing constantly comments is gonna do me even more good?

 

I agree with teamaguilar. Depending on the competition level of your targeted keywords, 1000 links from a heavy traffic site can contribute to a higher ranking of your site.

Moreover, your internal links can also help you to boost your ranking if your site is big enough (i.e. have hundreds or thousands of pages).

Links coming from differs website is always good for your website. If you get 1000 backlinks from 1 site google is considered it only 1 backlink. So try to get backlinks from differed websites and also from differnt websites
