Good luck, buddy. As someone said, stay away from controversial websites such porn, gambling, pharmacy, illegal downloads, etc...
Focus on providing good content, good service or good products. Work hard. By in the meantime, you might need to take a regular job to pay off the bills. It takes time for a web business to take off.

True. But in another way, there aren't that many huge tips, I believe. The basics are simple but people like to believe there is more to it ;)

    1. Have good content.
    2. Optimize for searches (SEO).
    3. EXPERIMENT!

Stick to these; it's amazing how many webmasters ignore this advice. Who knows why; maybe they can't believe it's that easy.

I've been experimenting with my website, fooling around with colors, ad placement, other design elements, etc. As well as my AdWords account - different ads, keywords, geographic locations, times of the day. The idea is to track each change, see what happens, and over time you maximize your site. You must have a website people want to go to though. Look at your website and TRY to think of bad things about it. Be brutal. Get creative and try to make a huge list of things that might drive traffic away or increase your bounce rates. Blow up every mistake or design flaw you can think of; by not being afraid to face what needs to change, you can accept it and change it... and improve. Not being pessimistic about it, but always being eager to improve and take on the work necessary to improve.

One reason people don't give out their secrets is because their secrets might not work on other sites and other situations. They're not necessarily "secrets", they're just not applicable to your website.

The fact that the super-successful people even have hints and secrets is because they learned them by themselves, through experimenting, trial and error and not being afraid to fail!

School of hard knocks; don't drop out. You must keep going, for the promise you made to your parents, for yourself and MOST important, for the LOVE of it.
The love is the key and is a must to really do well!

Keep at it. I definitely have gotten a lot of inspiration from DigitalPoint myself. Consider what you've done so far a tuition fee.

But now - knowing what you know - you are that much ahead of the game. And DP is a great resource for learning about all the other things maybe you hadn't paid so much attention to yet.

Just keep plugging away. Success is closer than you think.

Cheer up, guy. Here's a story that might cheer you up:

The first site I ever built, which I spent 3 years working on, developing, adding content every day, and promoting, was suddenly and without warning taken from me, forcing me to build a new site from scratch and start all over again in a single weekend.

What I realized was this: I had learned a lot about making money on the net in those 3 years, but I was just too satisfied with myself (with my one site) to do anything with the knowledge. When I got hammered, my only source of income TAKEN AWAY, I had to implement what I had learned, and learned a ton more in addition to it.

The first two months after that weekend sucked, but by the third month I was back up to speed, making the same. What happened was, I was FORCED to go beyond my limits, I took risks that I wouldn't have, and I prospered. So basically losing that website was the best thing that ever happened to me, even though it felt like someone had crushed my heart at the time.

What I'm trying to say is, you probably have more options than you think you do. Use this as the impetus to attack making money on the Internet even harder instead of letting it knock you down.

Excellent. JackBurton knows what he's talking about.

I'm curious, what happened to make your website "taken away" from you suddenly? Some domain name thing??

Well said jack. It's not about what (kind of) problem we face, but how we react to solve it.

To the OP, good luck brother. Hope for the best for you.

Yes. Another corporate monster crushes the "little guy" on a whim. Never, ever put your trust or faith in corporations, Adsense included. They absolutely, positively don't care about you at all. Always make sure you have an "out" if one of them turns on you.

Ouchs, im in the same situation. parents and i have a huge mortgage bill also but im probably much older then u.
I have a good seo that is working on my casino affiliate site. We are on the 10 page of one of the top search engines(even without onsite seo and 4 pages incomplete) when this bill was passed. Your adsense idea is what im also working on. Just a tip, dont go for the tough keywords

It's STILL not illegal in the States. I play everyday, continue to, even after the bill has been passed. There will be nearly a year grace period before the bill even kicks in, and by then the big companies like Bodog et will have found ways around it.

Ouchs, try different incomes, not just Adsense and not just poker.
