i don't think you should check your backlinks in google webmaster, there is lots of free tool to check back link like online-utility.org, backlinkswatch, iwebtool, website grader. these all the free tool to check backlinks. google webmaster not update quick or fast.
It's only a month since you had started your practice, so have patience Google takes time to give backlinks.
see The links which will be shown in google webmaster are specific kind of links and the link which google count as back link and those links are not perfect because sometime it shows link from nofollow sites too..
try hard in seo of your websites... thenonly you are going to know your backlinks... to get a backlinks in google is not a small thing..
You are working since last month and google takes some times take more time. So, wait. You can also check backlinks with other sites like backlinkwatch.
You can see backlinks in webmaster tool also. Google take some time to show the backlinks for your website. Just try to make backlinks from quality and relevant websites.
First you never said what type of back link campaign you are using so...we really can't judge this performance.
type this on google link:yoursitename.com it will tell you the link that coming to your site.... you also can try it on yahoo.com
