Hi friends, please let me know what is alexa traffic ranking how it is different from general word "Traffic"?

 

Alexa ranking – Alexa is a famous search engine that provides extra information such as traffic rankings. An Alexa ranking is an indicator used to gauge site performance.

Alexa us not based on Organic Traffic. For example it your blog/website's traffic is 90% from Search Engines then you alexa rank will really sucks, and if you blog's traffic is 15% from Search Engines then you Alexa rank will be more.
Which means that Alexa Rank is highly preferred to the website with more traffic from Referral websites/ Social NEtworking sites rather that Search Engines

As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis. The main Alexa traffic rank is based on a value derived from these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users). The three-month change is determined by comparing the site's current rank with its rank from three months ago. For example, on July 1, the three-month change would show the difference between the rank based on traffic during the first quarter of the year and the rank based on traffic during the second quarter.

Dont waste your time. There are scripts that can accomplish this. Besides if you own a blog that might not be frequented by webmasters or tech savvy audience, having a high Alexa ranking will always look suspicious

 

i think alexa ranking is according to visitors some times its increase some times its decrease

 

the traffic itself is more important than alexa traffic rank
you can ignore the alexa rank and focus on the traffic
