Where do you get the product photos for items you wish to sell in your ecommerce store? If a person doesn't manufacture the items themselves or have somebody else make the items for them, where can they get high resolution photos for the products that major brands manufacture which they wish to sell in their ecommerce store? Thanks for your help.
Manufacturers will only provide the photos to you, if you're an authorize reseller such as the case with Apple for their products. I'm pretty sure there are other methods which DPers use to obtain photos of products that they're selling in their ecommerce stores if they're not the manufacturer or owner of those products which they're selling.
Usually the person who took the photos owns the rights. You need to have express permission from the owner to use them or to take your own.
You can ether contact the manufacturers or suppliers. Also if you have the product in your hand you can take your own, it is very easy. Get a light box with a couple of 80watt light bulbs, a point and shoot and a tripod. I did product photography for years and loved it
I would stay away form going to your competitor if they are custom product photos they paid for you might end up in a little bit of trouble for using them. Best to take your own or email the manufacture/supplier
That's called copyright infringement - and subjects you to things like being sued, losing your adsense account, having your hosting terminated, being removed from the search engines. Always make sure you have express permission.
When I launched an online store a while ago, I had to take my own pictures, Timberland, Nike and some of the other shoe brands I was selling tried to come after me but I showed them proof that I took my own images. It is the main thing they use to try to stop you from selling their products.
The ideal scenario is for you to acquire products and take your own photos. That way instead of trying to steal images on the sly, you can take the kind of images you want and brand them against others stealing them.
Otherwise you can find stock photo exchange sites and pay a couple bucks for use rights to whatever pictures you might need. Just do a search for "stock photo sites"
We use a product photographer. Since we sell ladies fashion items, it is extremely important for us to have amazing pictures. Taking a great photo is not as easy as it sounds; you need the proper equipment, lightning, ideas....etc Generally speaking product photography is not cheap ($8 to $25 per pic + set up fees). But you can always hire a final year phtography student or someone just starting in the photography business to do the pictures for free in exchange for folio (let them display your pictures as examples of their work) and references. It worked great for us.
Hi, If you are using your own products then you have to design products image and if are a dropshipper then you must contact manufacturer for photos and it is very important to contact a designer to make photos better
Somehow I don't get the point... Why would Nike or any other manufacturer try to make it hard on you selling their products??? A manufacturer lives from an ongoing production and an ongoing production can only be guaranteed if the products are also sold by resellers like you. As a reseller you usually have a wholesaler that supplies you with the products and usually also can supply the product images or in case you buy direct from the manufacturer, so most manufacturers have product images as well.
These days you can very easily produce quality high res. images of your products yourself, at minimal cost. About $50 for a 5 megapixels camera. then you'll have no worry about copyright issues. Even your cellphone can produce quality products photos for an ecommerce website.
