What would you prefer: 3D or 2D?

We all do know that in the designing business there are two main categories: 3D and 2D.

Let's take logo's for example, what would you prefer? Having a 2D logo or a 3D quality one?

What are the benefits and disadvantages of each?

Personally, I'd prefer 3D, because you can make logo/design/interior/model/product samples almost realistic in looks.
And it is known that 70% of people making a new home-decor tend to first hire a 3D visualizer to show them how it would look in real-life before you even start to build it!

    State your opinions!

Well we all know that there is not such thing a 3D but it is a gut idea to use it since nothing looks cool whiteout shades and glows .

actually 2D or 3D is depend on u and your website.if u just want to make ur website simple, 2D is enough.but if want to make ur website look outstanding especially like website for graphic desgning, 3D would be better to promote your website.this is just my opinion...;-)

I have to agree with you, but I'd like to hear your opinion about designing for a goal that's different than website designing.
Let's take animation movies, interior design, product-looks designing... What would you prefer? in 2D or 3D?

3D if you have the skills to make the match the design, in my domain of work, 3D is essential to lead, so I'd suggest you go with a 3D look.

By far 3D is the most common and widely used.

i prefer 2D logo's. If you have enough time to work on a 3D logo.. then a 3D logo is better.

Well, I have seen a lot from both types, and I think that there are many many very creative ways to express a logo in 2D, and I really like simplistic designs, but with hidden/interesting ways to express/present the product. :)
On the other hand, 3D logos are shiny, more attractive on first look, and are in great use over the past periods. But some 3D logos are overdone, with too much shading, and shine, and are complicated, and that can turn away some of the potential customers/visitors. :/
