How much would you pay for this service

    Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of setting up a service which creates automated slideshows of your product with a few captions. You would be able to put these movies on your ecommerce sites and show unique content (which is hard to come by in most standard ecommerce set-ups) you could also use these short videos (around 30 seconds each) to fill a youtube channel with your product videos.

anyways that's my idea. How much would this be worth?
and second question: How much would it be worth if you only gave me your site's URL and my team extracted all the pictures and descriptions, and we do the videos on our own (think about any site with over 1000 products...)

    cheers.

    A

I think a couple of things need to be looked into a little more:

    1. Have you got any examples of the product videos that you offer? End of the day, if they are something that is simply standard and moving a little, you would get much less than something that was more advanced.
    2. Why would you want all your products to feature as videos? Search engines are unable to read the data in them and website users can be very lazy at times.

    Just a suggestion :)

Here is a link as an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhr22QszajQ bear in mind all the music is licensed.

As for the readability of videos in SERPS. I agree that the content can't be read, but the tags definitely can, as well as filename and alt tag description which is a biggie for any ecommerce site. Let's face it, none of us have 3000 word product descriptions and all we have to make our pages unique is cutting up pictures, adding color swatches, and now... video.

so on 2 ends: 1 is a backlink from video sites such as youtube
    2. on site content.

...and thanks for the input. Keep it coming folks!

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input. So what I was thinking, is that yes, it takes a normal person with some basic training, around 30 minutes to create A video like mine. Now think about someone with 3000 products on their ecommerce site. This is a huge task, so what I'm thinking, is to save people time, is to make these videos for them. The price point which I've gotten from people so far is in the $8.00-$15.00 range and I'm thinking of doing a package of 10 (30 second) videos for $100. How does that sound?

This idea will work for clothing and maybe electronics having someone demo it for the person who's shopping to determine the fit and how the product actually works. I don't believe it should have caption in the video. That'll be too much. The person visiting the item description page can readily read the full description for the item to get an idea of necessarily information which will help them in deciding or making a purchasing decision. A video will probably draw them in more to making a purchase.

I really don't think I would like to have some of those videos in my shop. For once, it will cause a lot of additional bandwidth and I really don't think it will be for a big benefit to the shopper unless the video was an addition to the product description and shows the product functionality or special advantages of the product.
But for advertising and marketing purpose it's a great idea to use them in youtube or other movie/video channels. Even on social platforms like facebook I can see a use in it.
But your idea isn't really new, since similar services have been offered here on DB and in other forums before, in similar price ranges and even up to $100 for a 1min video.
Windows Movie Maker (free) or Ulead Video Creator are very easy to work with and you can create a product slide show within a short amount of time, even with some fancy effects. Not even to mention the good old flash movies and tons of free slideshow scripts.
But to really stick out from the crowed you will need professional software like from Adobe and a bit more of an idea than just to show a few product images and fancy blend overs or text effects. I have looked at a lot of those videos on youtube and hardly none of them had more than 70 - 100 views, if at all. Sorry, but 100 views wouldn't be worth 10 bucks to me, since probably none of the viewers really has visited the website that was named in the video. But as we all know, a really good video can easily trigger several ten thousands of views and this could turn into a good ROI. (it always depends the products and competition)
For such marketing videos of course the price will be a lot higher too. They will require to work out movie scripts (story book), the DECENT use of special effects that not the normal dude software provides and at the best, the products to be presented by a live person (pretty girls do best, since they can sell pretty much everything ;) ). Do you see in what direction I am heading?
Instead of trying to make quick little money with average videos they won't be of much use, videos that basically everybody can create themselves, try to do offer a professional job and offer something that people really would pay money for, good money! But of course it will take a bit longer to create a commercial ... getting the point now where I'm heading to? ... than a 30seconds or 1 min image slide show.

You asked for a honest opinion and that is my honest opinion.
    Good Luck

I think there is a market for professional looking low priced video's. I need one for my website and would pay around $50 if someone could do it well.

Guys, I appreciate the input. So far I've gotten 23 orders for these slide shows, so I guess there is some sort of market for these things. As was said above time=money, so this is a great timesaver for you folks who just want these videos to be put on youtube or any other video site. Price for my services is $10.00 A video.

    cheers.

You actually don't need the fancy sound affects to showcase the products. Here's an example I found on Net-a-porter where they're doing exactly what you are proposing but without the sound. ASOS also shows videos to demonstrate their products too.

    Hey Simpson,

For single clips the price is $10.00 per clip (minimum 30 seconds) you get an embedable code with a player to put on your site, as well as an Mp4 file if you would like to host the file locally.

not so sure about what you mean in item 2. Please PM me and I'll explain.

@visualmellon, welcome to our little thread! and yes. actually a LOT of people from here and a couple of other forums are liking what I've been doing here. I'm thinking about hiring someone to help me next week.

If anyone has any other questions feel free to PM me anytime.
