I am using twitter to promote our website online.But i find since twitter shorten the link we submit,we couldn't get the real backlinks with our own url.and when i check for the backlinks from twitter with social bookmarking backlinks checking tool.i found there is zero. even though twitter bring us traffic from our followers.but do it will be useful for page rank increasing? please share your experience.
No you don't get backlinks..and there is a reason why..Twitter is really not an place to market an website..you will get some traffic..but not something that's worth your time..I will suggest you get your site into seo so you can start getting traffic from the search engine..Thanks

The only backlink you'll get I believe is from your profile. And your Twitter profile is important. When I search for berget (my surname and my twitter username) I always get top 5 at google with more than 2,6 millions results. It actually drives traffic to my blog.
@ poppaippi i am totally agree with you . you can get hell of traffic from twitter but back links i am not sure.
Not too sure what's the important of the backlink from such twitter profile but if you are looking just for traffic then be active and twit updates

On the Contrary, Twitter can be a really good source to market your website, if done tastefully & in right manner. It's usually keeps the no. one or two position in getting traffic to my sites next to google. Twitter just can't be ignored. But yes, it's not a place for generating backlinks.
This is not true, Google converts famous shorteners and provide backlinks but incase of twitter i doubt it does but you gain traffic

it is true,google also have the url shorteners to help the webmaster to optimize the long url as twitter.but i think they all only bring us the trafic,not the backlinks coz it is not the original links of our site anymore..
