Hi all, Seems to be that Wikipedia is asking for $ contribution http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Personal_Appeal Is this something new or happened before?
I was pretty surprised cause been using wiki for some years now and never saw such thing before... Anyone donating?
Nee , Wikipedia has grown to big for me . When something good tries to become universal it's sure road to failure . Look at how many failed projects Google or Microsoft have . IMHO they should remain just an exhaustive encyclopedia , not try to gather all the human knowledge .
Hmmm... never thought it that way, maybe you are right, but still thinking about Google's monopoly and your theory fails regarding this
Wikipedia is expanding and of course it required money to expand. Maybe Google will buy over the Wikipedia.. I just predict and saying only...
What monopoly ? You mean market dominance ? Last time I've checked they only had about 60% of the SE market .
Not talking only about the www, they are widening their services to phones, cars, electricity, etc, etc, etc. Google it's not solely a SE
I know they've entered lot's of domains and industries but they don't have a monopoly over anything they're just an ACME .
Yes, it happened months ago. I don't understand why wikipedia keeps asking people to contribute to it.
If I don't donate I will feel guilty but if I do I will feel stupid... oh my! better guilty and rich than stupid and poor! lol
No webmaster should help Wikipedia it just steals a big chunk of traffic from all of us I wish it dies soon
