People would buy them because they are so silly to believe such domains will retain such PR, but gyahoo is absolutely right. PR will last until next Google update, it has been that way for years and counting. Very few exceptions though, as long as webmasters upload similar content previously available for a PR domain.

domain names are just to hard to understand what they means? i am just wondering how come they got such good PRs?
its easy . just type info:domain.com to google . If results are nothing or url(s) which doesn't match original then something is fishy ...means fake pr ... if only one url is returned and its same then its Real PR.
According to me,Incase of domains expired their PR does not remain Valid after domain gets deleted from the Registrar.
