I want to start an online business really bad. I thought of many things, but I honestly can't think of something that 'fits' me. Thing's I've thought about... wholesale distribution auction site blog forum/community I have some pretty decent skills. I can develop websites to some extent (I don't know a TON of PHP, but enough to get me to be able to work with Wordpress or create very basic applications). If there is a site, I can probably do it. Only problem is I don't know what to do! I don't want to do these things... arcade site web hosting web services (I tried a LOT to get some coding work, but I can't compete too well since I don't have any solid work in my portfolio. Hell, I don't even HAVE a portfolio). I really want help with finding a business idea that I may be able to do. I'm very tech savvy, so the building of the site isn't the problem. I'm willing to partner with someone as well. Little start up cost except for hosting and domain would be a huge bonus! edit: I am currently in college, so it would also be something that can fit my schedule, not full time. edit2: I also have some basic graphic design skills, but Im not too good at designing sites. You can see some of my work here
I would advise you to do dropship business as its require less time. Just be a middle man in the trade to earn money.
My advice would be to start a website that imports RSS feeds and sell advertising to customers, to feed their RSS feeds to it.
I've thought a lot about that, but I never found a GOOD company. All I see are cheap Chinese knockoffs and that isn't what I'm going for. Also can't find a good market that isn't so competitive.
Gather an email list and advertise affiliate products. It costs you very little and there is some good money to be made.
You can become an affiliate and promote some products online for a commission. Join the biggest affiliate networks and see if you can find something good to promote. Start-up costs are low... mainly for domains, hosting, PPC. If you know SEO you can promote via SEO instead of PPC. This will further reduce your costs.
Are you referring to stuff like clickbanks? If so, I may have to look into that. I know enough about SEO to get me started, but im no genius at it.
One thing to remember, that if you sell a product, any product, rather you produce it or not, you may be liable for it. That is the reason that I suggested advertising. No inventory, only start up cost to build and host the website, and no worry that if your customer gets his/her product delivered. The only thing is that you have to sell your website for advertisers to use it, and that is not easy, but may be easier then trying to satisfy a customer that is dissatisfied or does not receive their product.
The big bucks for little investment are n the porn biz whit a initial sum of 500 USD you can hit a profit of 2000 USD by month 2 .
I suggest to create a good website that truly represents your online business. Then to make your marketing more effective, you can get your own domain and make sure it is something that is representative of your business.
I have all the time I need really, it's just I don't know WHAT to write about. Blogging takes a long time, and even then I doubt everyone will be successful.
You said you're tech savvy, find something that a lot of people are wanting to learn how to do, but don't know how. Look in forums and other things to find information. Then create either an ebook or a video tutorial showing people how to do this, then create a website selling this tutorial. Everything can be digital so you don't need to have an inventory. Then go to the same forums, and if they allow links in the signature, add the link to your site and post helpful informative posts. Never post telling people or even implying that people should click the link in your signature. You can also write articles related to your subject and submit them to ezinearticles.com and docstoc.com with a link to your site at the end.
try bringing something new to the table that not many people are doing. Things like forums, arcade games, are very general, and are tons out there, try to find a niche. Like some others have said, a better way would be to teach your skills to others. You probably will have to do a lot of it for free for a while before you start making any money. Think long term.

To be honest I don't like Clickbanks a lot, but yes something similar. CJ, Shareasale, etc. are better in my opinion. There is no need to be a genius in SEO, just don't try to rank in some insane niches like weight loss or casino online
why you don't like clickbank? i read in CJ section of this forum, people got their account terminated.
