google want you to buy there adword, go for it...if they are not going to keep there search updated and threatening you by dropping you from there search, then how do you expect them to make money...adwords

somehow i agree with above comment. google instant will drive more traffics to top 5% large sites, leaving the rest to struggle and buy more keywords

Google gets about 60% of all search engine traffic so you either accept it or look for another traffic source, it's still basic seo stuff like high quality back links, and good content not too much of a change

Im keeping my ear out for news on Bing, and still using Google for everything it has to offer me. I am simply promoting my YouTube channel at the moment via my personal website, so promotion comes from Youtube itself and many more aspects of advertising.

What is really getting harder and harder is competing against Google's own properties ;)

    In a nut shell!

And thats what their long term goal is. With the new preview tool today there will be little need for visitors to even come to your website unless they need to buy something. It starts with a preview and then it leads to bigger snippets and then Google just end up displaying your whole site in their results in some way, combined with a google checkout and you will never see a customer on your site again LOL.

in my opinion it pretty much stays the same for me which is 1. provide quality and relevant content and 2. build an extensive off-page optimization plan...

How is developing new content helping you to jump on top of google natural search when all the local listings are still on top? I feel no matter what you do you and how much you spend - if you depend on local business keywords - you are SCREWED. No matter how much money you spend - you are screwed. CLients will click on local results and find their service/product while you spend tons and tons of money to be on top - you are still on the bottom of the local listings. Clients may not even get to your top ranking listing that they have to scroll down to. Complete Google BS!!!!

Lets hope its temporary. Lets hope enough people complaint for big G to realize that this is BS.

Google are constantly trying to improve their 'user experience'. I.e. weed out spam.

They have done a pretty thorough job with dumping duplicate content, now they are addressing other spam tricks, such as link exchanges.
