Having a list is always a very wise decision. The best way is to put together an optin page -lead capture page and offer them something of value for free. In exchange for your offer, they give you their email/name and you can follow up with them over time. Remember to build a relationship up front before you try and throw alot of stuff at them.
exactly! A list can be worth a fortune. Just remember to attract people for your list, who are relevant to your business. Else the list will not be much worth for you.
Put up a wordpress website with its main page/home page being a squeeze page offering some ebook, videos etc that you can create based upon your knowledge of your niche that you think can be considered of value by your visitors, and you can post some original articles in your site for SERPS, and drive traffic to it. You can also offer some stuff in hard form, meaning CDs etc that you can send by mail to your visitors who optin for you and give their address too provided your niche is such that you can use this method in it. And finally, always use single optin when targeting other non IM niches.
