I have seen website, that have seen page rank 0 still ranked top in Google but, most of the cases website site with good rank are at top. I am confused does page rank effects Google ranking or not.
There's been a lot of debate about this but I'd say no. I have no PR and my SERPs are only doing better each day. Pagerank has little relevance anymore.
do a search for anything and you will see that it doesn't matter anymore. I feel as long as your site has a 1 or more you're fine. If it has a "0" or "n/a" you should be concerned, unless of course it's new.
My site has had PR0 for over a year and I'm only climbing the search engines. PR has absolutely nothing to do with SERPs.
yes, PR does affect the SERP because PR is one of the factor that determine your SERP but it is not the major factor
It doesn't help determine your rank in search engines. A lot of number one results have little to no PR, my sites being some of those so I know from first hand experience.
PR is nothing to do with SERP......some of my site with PR 0 still rank well in google.... beside that google also don't update PR for long time.....just thinking that PR is not important nowadays...
The people that are telling you PR has nothing to do with where a site ranks likely are ranked for very uncompetitive keywords which bring little to no traffic. Try ranking for mortgage, loan, new car, etc with a PR0 site. The only way that will happen is if the PR0 site received a lot of backlinks after the toolbar PR export and really has much higher PR that has not been pushed to the toolbar yet. Anyway, the best advice is to learn what Google says about PR directly instead of the various misconceptions you will receive on a forum. And you can read that here: http://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/corporate/tech.html
thanks for that advice snowbird i never really knew the difference either if I'm honest. Will definatley help me out in the future Are PR and SERPs achieved in vaguely the same way though?
Not true. I am one of those people who are saying PR has nothing to do with SERPs and I'm ranking well for a keyword with over 519 million results.
^^ Exactly. There is so much "misinformation" about PR being spread around the web, it would be extremely hard for someone just starting out in SEO to make sense of it all. Its best to get the basics straight from the horses mouth. Before people can understand how Page Rank affects the SERPs, they first need to understand that "toolbar PR" is not the PR that gets used in the algorithm. Real PR does affect SERPs. Cheers James
PR affects very little when it comes to ranking in google. I have seen few sites who rank on top on their keywords without PR. Just keep creating Best quality content and promoting the content.
Hi, I think PR would still be a ranking factor but not the decisive one. Also, sites or pages with higher PR would usually come with better quality page contents and back links, which would be the essential factor for ranking purpose. all the best,
I have many websites in which I have 0 Pr but these sites rank on first page for many high competitive keywords even the other displayed websites have higher PR.
I think PR is not a matter when there is very little competition between websites for a keyword. But when there is a lot of competitions and there are thousands of websites optimizing for same keyword then PR is a big factor for SERP ranking.
PR is a factor. It determines the crawl rate and how many pages are indexed. But, PR isn't the sole factor. Domains with an EMD bonus or optimized anchor text are able to outrank higher PR sites.
Right on, snowbird! Thankfully, there are a few DP posters like you who take the time to read Google's clear statement that PR does affect the rankings. The individual, anecdotal stories on this forum about low-PR sites outranking higher-PR sites are meaningless. As you correctly pointed out, for competitive keywords, you'll almost always find that the high-ranking sites have good PR.
